I have the original style flush speaker covers in the doors. After chucking away the jurassic original speakers and replacing with modern JBL GTO's, the speaker cover does not fit over the speaker now due to the centre tweeter sticking out slightly. If I screw them in there is a risk of breaking the covers due to flexing, but if I can find a way to attach them over the speaker they should be ok, anyone able to recommend a good way to attach them over the screwed in speakers? I guess the last resort would be some strong glue but that would possibly damage the covers if speakers ever need to be changed.

Thanks

What you (and I) are really looking for is something like these, which have a built in spacer:

Well, they've already gone, and I'm just going to put up with slightly bent speaker covers until something goes wrong.

Those are standard 944 speaker covers, i think from around 88 on, which have a spacer designed to go behind the speaker (making a speaker sandwich) but if you put them between the speaker and the grill, you do end up with more room for a bigger tweeter.
