We did need something else, the old one was dreadful , this sets out our stall as a Porsche club, and we don't end up in court. Under the circumstances this ticks the box

It looks quite 993-ish. Right?

From what Sean says I assume it's a '73 RS

I actually liked the black, red and gold of the old logo, but a more modern look was definately needed.

If there's still a few of the old window stickers left can you save a couple for me too Sean?

I quite like the new refreshed look of the logo, it looks good in all formats- clothing, print and as above in digital media.

Yes it does look similar to some other known retailers but thats because its immediately screams Porsche - certainly not 911 to me :?

I also agree with other comments that the 911 is superior, thats why you were implying I think

I have about 20 of the old window stickers left, I also have a few tax disc holders. I will take these to Hatton with me, first come first served but not whilst I am on the gate.

I like the new logo.....................just saying. The unfortunate thing about a club this size is not every decision can be debated with every member, and if it was nothing would be decided. "Some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time" springs to mind, but glad members are relaxed enough to come right out and debate it. Nothing wrong with that. :D

Where do I buy the new tax disc holders? :?: I'll want one for the 996, the 928 is sold and I'll leave the old one on her.

It's very modern and original...... or is it.

Reading through the (as usual) excellent All Torque one finds the same style logo used for Gmund Collection, Pro-9, Hartech, Only9nine.

I have to agree about the 911 thing. The logo implies that the 944 owner is an inferior being - exactly the same as Porsche Club GB implies.... which is why I thought TIPEC was set up in the first place (ask Barry Hartech - he did it).

Have you (the committee) considered running a competition to design a new logo that is acceptable to all owners - even us poorer 944 owners, and dare I even mention 924 owners....

Maybe a t-shirt for a prize.

I'm one of those who likes the 911 by the way, however in response to Sean's scathing remarks (said in jest  ) about the 'also ran' Porsche silhouettes - I think the chosen top-line looks a bit like a Hyundai Coupe!

I agree with jw590, not only dealers but some car clubs use a logo very simular to our new one. To me the word independent means, not connected with someone or something else. Our old logo looks good on our shirts, I dont think the new one will have the same effect. Perhaps bringing the black, yellow and red back into it would help. A competition for a new logo would have been a better way to go.

To be fair, I like the clean lines and modern look of the new logo.

I think the silhouette is actually of an early '70s (73-74?) 911 with a ducktail spoiler. Porsche did both RS and Carerra (inc targa) models with this spoiler on - which is a model I doubt anybody in the club has anyway. Sorry if I'm wrong, however if I'm right then we can allow Sean a neutral stance seeing as he (accidentally) chose a model nobody has ....... so nobody can complain!

I do have a couple of serious and relevant questions though.

Why do we have to maintain 'Independent' in the title? Telling people you're in TIPEC - The Independent Porsche Enthusiast Club - is a right mouth-full, even if you have a big mouth like me! I understand what 'independent' means, and what it tries to say, but we cannot be truly independent of Porsche because we all use them for sourcing spares, technical advice, club days out - main dealer visits etc, getting freebies where possible, and so on.... therefore the club is not truly independent.

For what it's worth, I think 'The Porsche Enthusiasts Club' has a nice ring to it, and that the current name (and shield badge and typeface) is a bit dated and a bit too amateurish - hence never wanting to buy any TIPEC products. I would with the new logo though, even more if 'independent' was ditched.

Grammar - should it be enthusiasts or enthusiasts' ? Enthusiasts is the plural of enthusiast, so is correct, but is the name meant to imply that the club belongs to the enthusiasts or that it's a club of enthusiasts? If it's the latter then it's correct, but if it's the former there should be an apostrophe after the s to perform a possessive noun. It is placed before the s with singular nouns and with plural nouns not ending in s, and after s with plurals ending in s.

Porsche typeface - why can we not use it? Porsche state that you can use the typeface for pleasure or private use. TIPEC isn't a business, it's a pleasure enjoyed by private individuals. Also, in the same light that we are not independent of Porsche, we are actually an advertisement for them for the quality and reliability (sic) of their products, they still make money from us, and I'm sure if they were approached in the right way they would approve.

I'm sure they do not have a problem with the association with TIPEC, unless there is some adverse history I don't know about.

Just my thoughts, and as I always say - each to his own.

think you will find there are a few RS's tucked away with club members, not sure how many though

We do have a couple of RS's in the mix. :)

It was Porsche that insisted "Independent" was in the Club name, which I agree is a mouthfull. We debated this for ages at the 2011 AGM. The room was more concerned about sounding like PCGB and becoming one and the same.

To be honest I think this has worked out for the best.

The logo makes you notice it is a Porsche, the way the wording is set "Porsche Enthusiasts Club" is already grouped.

The Typeface we are definately not allowed to use.

I like the new logo, liked the old one too, will look back at it with fond memories, but to be honest the club needed the new logo and a facelift.

I also think that anyone, no matter what model of Porsche they have, even if they have just got into it, will recognise the new logo as saying "Porsche" as much as the word, font or crest.

Out of interest, legal battles aside, what name did you have in mind Sean?
