I have a question: Who’s the nearest reputable independent Porsche specialist to Bruntingthorpe? I’m going to have a long drive back to Glasgow the next day and it’d be nice to drop in and have the car double-checked for safety after thrashing it around the track. I’d hate to discover too late that I’d fried the brakes or something.

Hi tony,

Don't forget we have Chris Franklin there on the day

He also does brakes I believe, given that he does complete suspension rebuilds, why not drop him an e-mail

Was the article I wrote on the subject of Chris at Centergravity OK for next edition of All Torque

The other problem you have is you will be going back on a Sunday I assume, so none will be open as most work Monday to Saturday around here

Regards

Brian

How's about you get it checked over beforehand? Might just save you some embarrasment at the circuit?

That’s a good point. I hadn’t really thought that through, had I? Yes, all the info about Chris and the day will be in the April magazine. Looks good so far.

Of course, I thought that went without saying. I was thinking about a check over afterwards as well. I’m that paranoid.

I thought you were opting for a muffler can?? Did you try one or give upon the idea?

Spectators are not allowed at Brunty so your best bet would be to ask if you can be a passenger in someone else's car and then ring Brunty to book in and pay the small fee.

I would take you but I already have a passenger.

I have been trying to contact Fay to ask whether we could have spectators on the day ( as a concession) but she is off sick. When I speak with her I will update on this thread.

A friend of mine wants to come watch, so if you could find out the answer to this Paul, that would be great. Cheers

I’d like to know about this as well. My girlfriend’s meant to be coming along with me, but not driving or being a passenger … just to hang out in the TIPEC parking area for chat and maybe some sandwich-related action.

Faye had mentioned to me when I phoned to book that passengers did not need to be booked in advance, but could turn up and pay on the day. I guess at the worst, I could pay for Jen on the morning as a passenger and then just not take her out in the car?

On a different note: Time for me to book somewhere for us to stay a couple of nights nearby. What’s everyone else doing? Anyone got recommendations?

I'll be providing catering on the day... selection of sandwiches and a lovely array of soft drinks from various organic producers, all in the back of the turbo as long as it's not thrashed around the track!

If you're lucky, I'll make brownies. Taking requests now.

87.5 drive by is not loud at all. Not confident that mine would pass that! There are various mufflers available but they are around the £100 mark at Demon theives. Crazy limits! :?

Hi :)

In case you were considering those "noise cans"...they will only drop your Db level by around 5 Db...

So as an example if you are at 100 DB ,,,then you are NOT getting down to 87.5 with them :(

Mine at 117 to 120 is WAY too loud anyway, but anyone going MUST remember they wont get money back if you turn up too loud.......

My best advice is find someone with a decibel meter (I have one for anyone on South Coast) or try a stereo shop...then hold engine revs at 2/3 maximum....usually around 4000 to 4500 and test at 18 inches from exhaust tips and level with ground......any higher than limit...you WILL NOT be allowed to run and no refund!!!!

All the best Brett :)
