I have now discovered why I couldnt find the fuel filter. A previous owner had fibreglassed completely over the access panel under the cradle. When I stripped it off the tank nearly fell on the floor the cradle was that rotten.Managed to get a half decent 2nd hand one from douglas valley, which looks fine after a wire brush and a quick paint. While the tank was out I saw the fuel return pipe was rotten and also the vent pipe from the expansion tank. After fixing that I noticed 2 driveshaft boots were split so changed them, flushed out the brake fluid, bled the brakes. The next day I had no pedal and thought it was the master cylinder, luckily before I changed this my friendly mechanic neighbour pointed out that each caliper has 2 bleed nipples! What an arse. Despite all these hiccups I am enjoying learning about the car. Next its the electrical faults.
