Hey!

Just joined at this ungodly hour of 4am!

I sooooo have petrol in the veins that I can't sleep through the excitement of having my new manky old 924! :D

This is my second time around with Porsche. The previous was a Guards Red '86 944 Lux Auto.Sadly stolen and trashed back in '99.
I didn't claim on insurance to keep costs down on premiums, and I'm nowhere near as wealthy now,so have a lesser quality Pork!

OK,so I had a '98 Saab NG900 Turbo HOT Aero Auto.I spied a silver '87/E 924S Auto, and being how rare these are now (although theres currently 4 for sale on the net!!),I decided to buy one of the 18 left, and did a straight swap with the buyer of the Saab.

Now,if I brought this to a meet, some might laugh and point at it and tell me its a shed.
It has 12M MOT,is very solid underneath.
The paint is flakey and there have been several 7/10 home spraying sessions plus the lacquer. So,she is clean and tidy. The teledials are a 7/10.
I like my cars minty fresh. When I drive an 80's car I like it to look like it did back then, and feel it too.
At the moment,I have a loudish clunk when she goes into reverse on the auto box and a loud whirring from what sounds like the transmission tunnel which gets quieter over about 15mph.Im wondering if this could be the famous torque tube noise???

Anyway, once cleaned to my standard,I shall post pics up for you to....y'know....point....and laugh at !!! :P

Steve

I think a before and after would show just how much hard work you put into it. So, before....?

I think I'm right in saying that you have been posting on the 924 owners club forum? I know that there arn't many 924S autos about!!

I thought that I would be laughed at when I took my lowly 924 N/A along to club meets, but there is none of that in this club. I have taken my car to Laon and the Le Mans classic since then with other TIPEC friends and it has managed to keep up with most of them (Although I don't know how hard they were trying)

Hello and welcome, you have the new fastest colour so lets see some before and after piccies, not too sure about the clonk but maybe the donut in the gearbox, I have heard you can replace this with a clutch plate but don't quote me on that, I'm sure a grater authority on this will be along shortly

Hi, Steve,
I started with a 924 and thoroughly enjoyed it for over two years.
My son and his father-in-law too, we all had a cracking time running them around.
Get some pics posted, mate, and let's have a look.
This is a great forum, all most helpful - you will enjoy, I have no doubt.
Bob :D

Hi again guys!

Sorry for the uber delay there!

So,pics.....

Image

Image

please excuse my precleaned interior! I have one vast Choccie Lab and yet to buy dogproof seat covers to protect my (according to Elliot @ Porkaparts) possible 911 or earlier 944 perforated leather front seats!

Image

Yep thats me too,on porsche924.co.uk

Elliot and I met today, owner of Porkaparts.

We agreed I have shocking paint, which I could see for myself, but mechanically is a believable 12k car and runs sweetly enough.

Steve :bounce:
