Porsche 928 From Risky Business Up For Sale
If you're a fan of large examples of movie memorabilia or short examples of Scientologists, you will be thrilled to learn that the Volo Auto Museum is selling a Porsche 928 originally used in the 1983 Tom Cruise classic Risky Business.

The museum and used-car dealer, located on the western edge of Chicagoland, has featured the gold Porsche that took Cruise to stardom in its TV & Movie Car Collection. The museum's curators are making room for the Chrysler from Seth Rogen's Green Hornet film, so the 928 will be available soon.

The Porsche is in slightly rough shape — museum cars are rarely pampered, movie cars even less so — but Volo points out that this is definitely one of four cars seen onscreen and definitely not the prop that took the swim in Lake Michigan. Still, you may want to invest in a refurbishment before trying to outrun Guido the Killer Pimp again.

Asking price for the 1979 928 is expected to be around $55,000. That's a lot for an early 928 that needs work, but it's hard to put a price on owning a seat where Rebecca De Mornay's beautiful behind once sat.

The car sold for $49,000.00 ......

"What’s Tom Cruise’s name worth? Apparently $41,200.
A Porsche 928 that appeared in the film “Risky Business” was sold for $49,000 after a Beverly Hills car dealer read about it on FoxNews.com. The car was being offered by the Volo Auto Museum outside Chicago in order to make room for a couple of new additions to its collection.
The 1979 coupe was used in several scenes in the 1983 film that launched Cruise’s career as a Hollywood A-lister and was reportedly the very car that Cruise first learned to drive a manual transmission in.
According to NADA Guides, the average street price for a 1979 928 is just $7,800.
With over 100,000 miles on the odometer, the platinum metallic coupe may not be in as good shape as its action hero driver, but it clearly has the same kind of box office draw".

Good grief!

Amazing what a previous celebrity owner or film role can do for the value of a car.

Bit steep for an old 928 but it was a cracking film if a bit tongue in cheek - just my era.
