After the ignition 'tune-up' on the S2 - 'we' now have a K&N air filter in place. I also took out the blocker insert out of the filter housing - the subsequent road test proved a stunning transformation!

Hi could you possibly post a pic so i can remove the restrictive part or is it obvious. thanks

I too have a K&N filter but what is this blocker thing of which you speak?

Crikey - sorry for only now replying so late - haven't logged in for a while. The air filter housing is made up of two parts, which in effect, reduces the amount of air passing thru' the element. Removing the 'restriction' allows maximum air flow into the filter chamber & subsequently the induction/motor. With a bit of fiddling, the 'baffle' (as it could be called) can be removed via it's 'arrow head' clips.

I've just fitted a K & N filter to my 2.7 Lux which will have a different air box but it might be possible to repeat the same trick on mine . I'm probably being a bit dozy and my air box might not have it but what is the "baffle" exactly ? There is a second in let hole on the top section of my box but this is blanked over and presumably if removed would draw in extra air although this would be hot as its in the engine bay .

I have junked the air box and found the biggest K&N filter i could( aston V8 ), all the holes and loose plastic will be sealed before the panel goes on, hopefully the area will pressurise at speed. i dont know how effective this will be but i just like trying things out!

Steve - the 944s' airfilters are all within the engine bay - the later S2 models have the filter assembly underneath the front badge panel. This location is an excellent & direct way of getting air into the induction system. If you can organise an air-hose induction based under this panel, your engine will be fed by the first bite of air, as opposed to the original filter arrangement gasping under the bonnet...
