Can anyone help? My mother has had her beloved C reg 1984 924 Lux for well over 20 years. Last week a lorry smashed into it, lorry driver admits liability, and it looks like the insurance company will write it off. It has high mileage (though not for it's age)..110k...and has always been regularly serviced and maintained...it's beautiful, and (was until last week) spotless....in pristine condition. My mother is 73, with not much money, but it was her pride and joy. How will the insurance company price her (written off) car? How can she prove it wasn't a heap, but a beautiful Classic? I have offered to help, but have hit a dead end. Does anyone out there have any advice...many thanks.

There are not many 924 owners on this forum now and I have seen your post on another 924 site. Good luck with the insurance company.

I can't really help with your valuation query, except to say that whatever you manage to extract from the Insurance company won't be enough!!

Photos will help if you have any. Also the condition should still be obvious after the accident (unless every panel has been affected). Do some homework on the prices of cars in similar condition and try to find out what they went for (rather than just the asking price) And get a 924 specialists or enthusiasts (eg. forum moderator or club chairman perhaps) written opinion of value based on accurate description of condition prior to accident.

Then argue like mad!

Good luck

One last thing, does your mum have it on a classic or specialist policy? If so you should stand a much better chance.

You may be able to get some help from Paul Hedges, he is the Porsche Club GB 924 register secretary.

Without photo's it's difficult to value, but I wouldn't be taking less than £1500 if it was pristine. Probably will max out at £2500 unless it was anything special.
