SIGN THE PETITION BELOW!

Re-introduce a 30 year rolling vehicle excise duty exemption scheme, for classic vehicles. For too long now the tax exemption of classic cars has been frozen, to only apply to those manufactured before 1973. History did not simply stop in 1972. These are not cars which are driven everyday but rather on sunny weekends, to attend enthusiast shows etc.. It is vitally important that we help to preserve this important part of British motoring history.

TAKES 30 SECONDS AND COULD SAVE LOADS OF POTENTIAL CLASSICS FROM THE SCRAP YARD!

USE A GENUINE EMAIL AS IT WILL NEED TO BE VERIFIED TO COUNT YOUR SIGNATURE.

POST A REPLY WHEN YOUVE SIGNED IT TO KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE! 8) IF THE PETITION GETS 100K SIGNATURES IT HAS TO BE DISCUSSED IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. GOT TO BE WORTH 30 SECONDS OF YOUR TIME! :D

I'm all for this exemption to be re-established but the way the economy is at the moment I don't think the government will be considering a tax break for motorists and it'll just fall on deaf ears. Wouldn't it be better to wait until a more favourable time to make some noise about this issue?
Don't all shoot me at once :boxing: Not just me, most of the classic motoring organisations are saying the same thing.

Don't worry about that. The amount of time it normally takes from petition to discussion in the House, to action taking place we will have already been through this down turn in the economy, through a sustained period of recovery and growth and down into the next recession

Best just sign it now while its got the legs :D

Don't want to pi55 on the fire here, I'm all for saving a bit of cash, but I'm gonna play devil's advocate :sleepy4:

There has been talk that IF this were to be passed again 'Historic' vehicles could be restricted in use as they will be classed as second class road users. They may be restricted from busy routes, motorways, the rush hour etc.
OK, not so much of a problem for the garage queens that come out for high days and holidays and the odd indoor show but I use my classics as daily drivers and commuters as I beleive they benefit from regular use and the classic car movement benefits from owners actually using their cars.
I'd rather pay £250 a year for road tax and have equal road rights than save that money and be sneered at by rfl payers.

I'm hoping of course this scenario won't happen but all I'm saying is beware the gift horse.........

Signed, and passed on to some like minded mates to sign.

Getting rid of the 25 year exemption was one of the first things Liebour did when they got in - I'd love to see the Tories reverse it.

These cars have a much lower lifetime "carbon footprint" than a Pious ever will, so they should get the same level of tax exemption.
