When i bought my 86.5 S2, although it did have 928 issues, i believe i had boght a good one. Until that is she started to give me starting problems which eventually led to me stranded on the M8 motorway....MMMMM i strongly thought, i wonder how much this will cost?

Having read other peoples misfortune on the tipec site i decided the problem lay in the relays. This was confirmed when my 928 buddy Lee gave me the number of John at JDS Porsche, who is an absolute guru regarding 928s in my opinion. John advised me to change 3 relays and after purchasing them from him i fitted them in place and since then she has not missed a beat in about 300 miles.....so far...

My point is the problem turned out to be a cheap fix but if it wasnt for you guys posting your problems and solutions and people like John offering advice, then i dont know where i would be.

Many thanks to you all.......

Martin.

Glad you're back on the road Martin. John is a great guy and an asset to the community. I hope the car gives you many trouble free motoring miles now. :D

Hi John

The fuel pump and injection relays are both standard "53" types (car relays use a standard numbering system for type ans pin designation). They are the simplest SPST arrangement.

Very easy to find at any auto spares place but if you want to order from Porsche the part number is:

141.951.253B (did you spot that 53 at the end?)

The ignition relay can use another of these 53 types. But Porsche included a handy LED fuse tester in this relay, so if you want an exact replacement part is:

928.615.203.00

Sorry I've no idea waht they cost. i've always scavenged spares from old 928 CE panels!

Cheers

Adrian
