Hello mate,
when the ignition is on, lights on dash on, engine not running.
I move the temp slidder and the arm dosnt move, it does seem to be conected at the other end.
when i move the slidder at the bottom the fan works

OK Mark, sounds like you have problem with setting motor.

But you need to confirm by disconnecting the 2 plugs to the motor (the motor held to bracket by just couple if bolts - it's easier to disconnect the plugs by unbolting motor first) and then checking all the inputs to setting motor using the very detailed troubleshooting guide in workshop manual. Could be problem in your temp sensor string/microswitch forcing motor to cold position (unlikely - it should operate in the full hit oosition)

Or just get hold of a working setting motor (Simon Watson?) and substitute for yours (if it's unbolted easy to check operation with motor loose in footwell!). If no change you can always ebay the replacement.

I hope your having a great christmas? To save me going throught your posts am i right in thinking its the black box with the rod going into it?
