So, I bought my first Porsche: a 1985 944 2.5 Lux in white with the cookie-cutter alloys and those fat tyres. Barely a mark on the bodywork, although some respraying was carried out, I can't see the difference.

I've been reading through all the advice on here for about a week now, and I can see that you're a friendly bunch, with lots of knowledge, no snobbery and no idiots!

Having spent the first day finding all the problems, I will soon be throwing all my questions on here to get the car reliable ASAP!

Cheers,
Alex.

The only picture I have is one taken on the forecourt of the seller:

Welcome to the forum Alex. :)

Lots of spannerers on here, feel free to ask any questions.

The South East Region are worth a visit, lots of local knowledge with Derek and the gang.

Ah, I do feel I could do with someone to point out everything, or even if possible, someone to help me do the difficult jobs. Obviously I'm not alone here, and I can pay in beer, food and friendship.

Welcome to the forum.
Good lucking car but the niggles are always there when you start looking

South East region has a few guys who attempt to weald a spanner and the meetings are relaxed.
Next is second Wednesday in November (IIRC) at the Bolney Stage, Not far off A23.
Usually a couple of 944's turn up. Might even get to drag mine out for next meeting.

Would that be Weds 8th? I think I might see you there. The drive around the back roads from East Grinstead is irresistible.

Hi and welcome,

to join in the sentiments of the other members. A good start for you would be to look in the 924,944, 968 discussion area and download the workshop and PET manuals. These are a great source of info especially when dealing with your local OPC. (They love part numbers).

I've seen the links on the forum but where escapes me for the moment but, it will be fun looking around. I've found answers to a lot of questions on here. One thing that nobody has ever said on here is: Don't be afraid to ask!! There is a wealth of experience in this forum, tap into it.

All the best.

Hi Alex

Hi and welcome.

Looks like a really good one.

Yep, the advice on here has certainly helped me out a good few times and as a bit of a newbie I can recommend going along to a club night, enjoy!

Pete

She is indeed a nice purchase, but with many a tale to tell as I'm just learning how to fix everything.
Sadly she will not be joining us for this month's meeting, but I will bring the diesel tin-can so I can still meet and greet.

Hope to see your there.
All I have to do is clear enough space to get the car out of the garage and drive.
It needs a good run so may use for rest of the week
