Hi everyone.
I have a 2004 04 996 C4S with the Sat Nav and BOSE.
When I put a CD in the head unit (doesn't matter what including Nav disk) it says "CD Unreadable" Now I have tried several disks all perfect with no scratches and it won't accept them. I have also tried 148 to reset the unit and that also didn't work.
It has just come back from Porsche Chester after a service and they have quoted me £2,500 for a new unit but I was hoping someone could give me some other advice before I go spending that sort of money.
Also the CD changer and telephone work perfect and the whole system its self has no other faults.
Hope some of you can help
Cheers
John

Re: BOSE Sat Nav Headunit says "CD Unreadable"
A common cause of any cd not being read is - the laser head needs cleaning. You can try one of those cd cleaner discs... but they mainly tend to just smear the dirt and still not work. The best way is to access the unit and clean the head with a cotton bud and some meths.
Other cause is - the laser head or it's small piece of curcuitry has failed. They can usually be replaced, but not worth the costs on most consumer goods. I would try contacting Bose UK and ask if they can repair it for you - or put you in touch with someone who can. I believe Bose are in Kent somewhere.

Try these guys http://www.mapleaudio.co.uk
You can buy an aftermarket unit that has Nav and Bluetooth for much less than the Porsche replacement unit.
