Hi there.
I am just about to take the plunge and buy a 928s2, but i have a couple of questions:
Is the driving experience of a late 86s2 much different from an s4 (automatic in both cases)
The timing belt has been on the car since 1999 but has only done 5000miles to date, Should it be replaced right away?
Thank you for your thoughts.
Martin.
Hi MARTIN

The last of the S2`s (85/86 year) are the best imho..i own one..lol
The have ALL the S4 suspension and brakes (4 pot brembos all round) and the 310 hp engine...
The 16 valve engine is more "revvy" than the S4 engine which is more "torquey" ...
I have driven both and would take an 86 16 valve S2 over an 87 S4 any day of the week... but try both and see what you think....
The cam belt AND water pump AND tensioner should be replaced YESTERDAY.....
The general advice is 4 years is a maximum until its changed and mileage doesnt matter...i am not even sure you should drive it home unless its been driven at least a few hundred miles recently....
The belt/pump/ tensioner job should cost you between £400 and £600 at an independant..or around £2000 at an OPC LOL....
Make sure whoever does it KNOWS 928s ...This is NOT a job for your local garage

OH and the aircon NEVER EVER just needs recharging lol

Now for my famous saying...when I go out to my 928 every morning (daily driver) and that HUGE V8 rumbles into life it puts a smile on my face that lasts all day...

All the best Brett
