I have been looking with serious interest but still no sign of this car on JMG website - which I find strange....
Am I doing something wrong in my search?
If not, and I am searching correctly, do you really want them to sell it for you??
If the car is so good, I would be getting in touch with them to find out why it isn't boldly advertised on the web!

We had a forum discussion some weeks ago about the value of Porsches, 944's in particular.
Some very interesting comments came out - I argued increasing - some agreed but others argued decreasing values.
The figure you have the car valued at for insurance can undoubtedly reflect the selling price, but, realistically, no way could you achieve a price approaching anywhere near £14k, not for a 1990 944, whatever spec and however good it is.

Sorry to be so blunt, but we all live in a real world where a "reasonable quality" 944 S2 can now be picked up for less than £3k.......

Someone on here has just sold his 220 turbo for £12k to the first person that viewed it, so the market is not that flat

Thanks for that encouraging news. (Was it the Concours Guards Red that only did 700 miles last year?)

I have spent most of today preparing an advert for Piston Heads as JMG earlier advised me they have problems updating the advert side of their web site (thats the reason my car is not on it!)
Will try and post the link to PH when advert gets approval to go live.

Thanks for the post Bob and I do agree a reasonable S2 can be got for <£3k. Question is how people view reasonable? and how much would it need spending on it to get it top notch ??

Hi :)

I think the problem you have is in your last paragraph....

Your car has nothing to be done as every last nut/bolt/washer etc was replaced and rebuilt and I have never seen such a perfect engine..and thats saying something when it comes from an ex race mechanic....

I have seen lots of cars that have been "totally rebuilt" but they come nowhere near yours....

The problem being you NEED people to either actually SEE the car, or if not, you NEED ...LOTS and LOTS of high quality photos....

Good luck with the sale :)

All the best Brett :)

Thanks for that Brett I am hoping my Piston Heads advert (with the following extract) will do just that, it needs to be SEEN and DRIVEN to fully appreciate its quality :-

"If after viewing this advert you are seriously interested in purchasing one of the best, tastefully modified late 944 Turbos then I would suggest you contact JM Garage to arrange a viewing and test drive. I believe only then would you be able to make a realistically sensible offer which can be discussed and hopefully a mutual agreement made."
Cheers
Clive

I am finding this thread a bit stupid really. People asking an indication of price - the seller avoiding naming a price - and just posting more pictures. A valuation figure is only subjective for insurance purposes - not what you will get.

Yes, someone like me me may pay 10k for a car. The condition of your car does not look any better than mine which is not Turbo - apart from that, nothing special. and not worth 4k more than what I paid for a non turbo 92 S2 - J reg.

These kind of adverts are like walking into a shop and saying how much is that item, and shopkeeper says make me an offer - it been valued at 15k. If you want to sell something - put a price on it. Nothing worse than amatuer people wasting time and screwing with an unknown sale price trying to constantly get a better offer.

If your want to sell the car, tell people how much the car is - not play - guess what I want for it...

Have to say, I agree, if you are looking for offers, stick it on the bay, otherwise give us a clue!its pretty obvious that the current market levels are lower than your expectations or you would have sold the car=its too expensive , and a solid gold 944 is never worth the sort of money being banded about here, not everyone wants a blueprinted, non standard turbo, you will be discouraging at least 50% of the potential market with these upgrades. Sorry its a lovely car but I cannot see a 944 in the world worth more than 8-9 grand :?

Thanks for the last 2 postings chaps. I guess if you paid £10k for your J reg S2 then there just maybe someone out there who would pay above that for a Tastefully modified Turbo which IS special, it needs to be DRIVEN to appreciate its special qualities! They may not want to pay £14k but may be prepared to offer somewhere in between yours at £10k & the £14k Valuation on mine!
(btw my previous 944 was an S2 Cab which I paid £10k for [sellers asking price]; it was in Superb condition & had only done 30k. I was prepared to (& obviously did) pay more for this Turbo!
I have not specified an exact amount as that would be between me and any potential buyers to discuss. (btw the additional Photos were added at the request of previous posting requests for more pics + PM 's received.)
Just being curious, did the person who you purchased your S2 from advertise it at the exact £10k which you paid?

Sam looks like Red Rider already has a car worth more than the £8-9k world max!

I do not expect 50% of the potential market to be attracted by these upgrades, just trying to attract a discerning buyer who wants a very good Turbo with an exceptional Motor (The upgrades were the main reason I purchased this car in the first place).
Admittedly i'm in a niche market and buyers are few and far between but to widen the search from purely Tipec and JMG customers I am placing an ad on Piston Heads (& yes it quotes £14k but open to sensible offers after a viewing and drive!).
Yes I admit to being amateur but do not think I can be accused of constantly trying to get a better offer (although I did have one for £6k + some pickled organs in a previous posting though!)

Apologies if my posting appears stupid, no offence is meant or taken. I do however appreciate Tipec members taking the time to express their views and help another fellow reluctantly sell his car.
Thanks for looking
Clive

I hope so too Sam, although I am used to the long haul. It took me 7 months to get this Turbo Jun 06- Jan 07 and almost as long to sell the S2 Cab (the day before payment on the Turbo and that would you believe was through Autotrader over Christmas/new year 2007 the guy never saw the car & sent a low loader for it!), mind you Aug to Jan was a bad time to try & sell an S2 Cab.
Merry Christmas in advance.

Thanks for the last 2 posts guys.
Car is now advertised on Piston Heads to widen the audience. (Obviously in hindsight I should have done it sooner but thought Tipec & JMG were obvious 1st choices)
I will keep you informed when its gone!
Cheers

The problem isn't were you've advertised but the price! The work was done several years ago. There are no decent photographs of the problem areas. I sold mine on Piston heads because it was the only 944 with close ups of the top of the wheel arches & the sills. I'm interested in your car at real world money. Thats what I could sell it for if I had to.............Good luck with it anyway. These cars are undervalued compared to the 911. Even though they are better. It's a mad world. :( Think about it. For 14K you could buy a tidy 944 & drop a reliable 5 liter chev'y V8 in & have some change.
