Instead of hijacking J.J.s thread, just wanted to say my insurance came through today and its official Blue Rocket is to be scrapped as too far gone. Engine is spewing oil and smoke out of it, the salvage offer wasn't cost effective and I don't want to get involved in repairing all over again. I'll stick around on the forum to give encouragement as so many of you have done for me and get to meet up with you guys at some shows hopefully.
Happy Porsche-ing guys and gals

Andy

Ouch that looks painful! Sad to see another 944 go to the breakers but understand why.

Only painful bit Jim was to my pride. Still don't understand how it happened, just pulled away at junction, changed to 2nd and the wheels spun up and shot me off into a tree. luckily no one else around and only half mile away from home so backed out and limped down the road to home. Like J.J. the cars fought me the whole time. 20 odd year old super cars eh? Least I had agreed value so haven't lost everything.

It's bad news for you, and I hate to be a vulture, but.....

Do you know where it's gone to, as I know you looked after it so assume the off-side front wing is in good nick (mine's dented at the top from a similar accident and rusted at the bottom).

Thank you.

If you thought the '44 was expensive ......... Real shame since like me you had little time to drive the thing! I did just 2000 miles last year. The dam car was in bits most of the year. Ran like a dream when I sold it! One thing with money in your pocket you can be choosy as its a buyers market. All the best. :blackeye:

Going to take my time about what to do next, not had this much cash in my bank account for many years. I've decided I'm not going to retain the salvage, it was going to cost me £6k for that privilege and knowing that engine intimately now I could see problems ahead that I didn't want to get involved with again and neither did the insurance company so sorry to you guys who may of wanted various parts but I'm taking the oppotunity of having the cash and running. I'll try find out where it'll go as the spoiler was a rare-ish find, the turbo upgrades were brand new and those wheels :love4: My family would disown me if I brought it back home again though

Yeah I'll be down at the quay this year to say hi. Made sure I've booked it in my diary this year so I don't book any work in as per last year :blackeye:

Sorry to hear this Andy. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Any chance you could save me a souvenir from the old girl?

Hi Andy,
Real sorry about the write off it is a shame to see another classic disappear but Pleased you are ok and you have the agreed value in the Bank.
My tweaked Turbo is also going, but hopefully to another enthusiast via JM Garage - took it down last Sat and 2 chaps showing interest in it. Posted the dreaded sale in Cars for sale a couple of weeks ago.
I feel for you as I just know we will both miss the thrill of the Turbo
Clive

Cheers Clive
Actually mine was booked to goto Jon's next day for its final tune up to bring it back to full power after the running in period for the new cylinder head fitted. I think it was fed up of going there and just threw its toys out its pram and said NO! I'm not going! 20 year old supercars eh!

My Mechanic mate didn't drive my '44 over the pit. He just used to whistle. " Come on you should know your way in here by now." I kid you not. Bloody good job he was my mate or I'd be bankrupt! Having said that I'm looking at 4.2v8 S type Jags so theres no hope for me.
