Does anyone have a copy or know where to get a copy of a Bosh manual for 944T ECU?

I dont know of any manual for the ML3.1 DME but I have recently finished reverse engineering it so maybe I can help? I can point you to internal electrical schematics and there are 944 manuals avalable that show how its wired externally.

Thanks to Rich and Barks944 for responding. :) Be greatful for help as I have got intermittent problem ie cut out whilst driving. :( This started soon after I had the turbo renewed after it blew up. Jon Mitchell in Bournemouth did the installation and used his own modified chip in the ECU. In order to try and fault find I really need to understand how it all works. I am due to go to Anglesey on the 28th for a track day so desperate to get it fixed before I go.

I don't think I am going to be able to understand how it works in this short timescale, :? so would appreciate any help you can give me in terms of diagnostics. I have checked the earth points and currently have the glove box out. I have a long list of things it could be but could do with some hand holding on approach and tests.

DME relay replaced and chassis earths and battery connections checked.

I have had a 1980 924 Turbo I bought when it was just 2 years old, a 84 944, and 86 944, a 951, and currently a 1987 924S. All with ignition switch issues. I am not complaining. The original owners sold most of them cheaply because it had this problems. It is a $10 switch that needed replacing, then it is good as new.

You have already dealt with the DME Relay.

The less obvious cause is the DME. The 1985.5 to 89 DME was very poorly built. Single sided printed circuit boards without plated through holes. The symptoms you described can sometimes be repaired by touching up the solder on both DME boards.

I have DME schematics you can download at

Actually, the picture is of an early switch version. Not the late version as in your 89.

Off the topic, but it's the first time I had seen your site. I love the mirror repair  Much better than the 968 ones.

It is an aftermarket mirror, :toothy7: not OEM.
