944's don't like short journeys. Especially in winter. It takes 15 minutes to warm up & if that gets you were your going, then the battery won't have had time to recharge. The fuel economy will be awful as it will be running enriched for most of the journey. Just doesn't work! I tried using mine to do a 7 mile trip to work for a week. I was always the last to leave the car park coming home as if took so long to defrost compared to modern cars. By the end of the week the battery was flat! (Lights on, heater on, wipers on.) It got through £25 worth of Super. :blackeye: Switched to the train for the short commute. :)

My S2 is warmed up enough to defrost the windows in less than a minute or so and the temperature gauge is off the mark after about 5 minutes then settles at the normal running point. I cant say I have noticed a massive drop in fuel economy from short urban runs to long urban runs averages around 25-26mpg.

Just noticed your on Ingleby Barwick !! :D
Me too, will keep an eye out for you - maybe we can compare notes when I get a car too!!
For the moment I'll be in the Blue Fabia VRS !

Car hasn't been off the driveway since early December, too much snow and salt plus too many cars on the drive at present to get it out, so using my Daughters 96 Micra, great in the snow (skinny tyres and over 40mpg).

Keep on searching there should be something out there for you, there are even quite a few on the estate at leat 6 I know of including mine.

Never intended to sell this but the wife had other ideas. Can't get a baby seat in as well as my 2 year old daughter & the wife. B****er it. Don't buy this car! Sadly due to a growing family. My '44 will soon be for sale. Dam it. It's nearly finished. This was my daily drive until September.

Not a show car this is a great track day tool that can be used every day so long as you don't ask it to do short journeys. 35mpg not so bad on longer runs. Or suitable for anyone that wants there 944 to go as well as it looks & puts performance at the top of the list.

Full engine & gearbox rebuild. Minty body. Tidy if not perfect leather interior. New shocks/wheel bearings/discs/brake pipes/Goodrich flexi's/steering shaft/radiator/rebuilt starter motor/fuel lines/stainless exhaust/fuel rail/pressure reg/damper/clutch slave/brake master cylinder/plug leads/dizzy/coil/I could go on & on. Very little original under the bonnet. Only the steering rack not yet done but it's in pretty good shape. Glass out repaint. New screen, Live mapped by Wayne Scholfield
Will come with 12 months ticket. (Drive in drive out job.)

1987 944. 2.5 8v Fully rebuilt short engine. FSH Fresh tuned head. water pump, Thermostat, belts & rollers & seals Oct. Turbo clutch just fitted. Turbo cometic gaskets.
Gambia Red
Linen Leather
£3500 May seem a lot for a lux but this one has more go than it had when it was new! More than some S2's Find another in this condition! Over 10K spent.
An exceptional 944 with no nasty surprises! Not perfect but what 24 year old car is? There will always be something to do! Should still be running in 20 years time though unlike most of these.
Currently on the road taxed & tested.
Pm me to book a viewing. Now wheres the whiskey......

I'd be genuinely interested in having a look at your car. I'm currently putting frightening, work-related miles on my 997 so I'm looking for alternative daily transport that is still a proper, enjoyable drive. The 997 will then become an evening/weekend car. I like what you've done to the car so far - close to what I'd have done myself, I think. What shocks/springs have you fitted? As an aside, I had my last 997 (Gen-1) live mapped by Wayne Schofield too, so I know what he's capable of. (And isn't that 'shed' of his a work of art)?! My apologies, but unfortunately, I can't send PMs so I'm hoping you might be able to contact me.

Regards

Over 1000 views but only one person has so far come to see it & in the dark! Plates came with the car. Nothing to do with me. They've been on for nearly 5 years now. Never actually been pulled in this. Well not yet. :blackeye:

Tell your MOT tester to read his instructions! Pre-2001 the rules are completely different.
Have a read here:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/sho ... p?t=585816

or

The plates are legal font but the border etc. isn't but doesn't matter for pre-2001 cars.

OK, I'm reading this diferently to you, pre 2001 do not need the plate maker but they still can not have the Porsche logo so are illegal no matter what the year! :?
