The odometer reset switch use to work fine previously. I've just realised its now not working. Any idea's what may have caused this? I'm not sure if the lighting upgrade has anything to do with but that's the only change made so not sure what else it could be?

I do remember reading somewhere that resetting the odometer whilst the car is motion will 'break' it. I'm not sure of the validity of this but I did recently reset the odometer reading while the car was in motion. (Can't even have been more than 5mph at the time as I was still pulling out of the spot in the petrol station!)

FYI - I recently completed the popular lighting upgrade/improvement for the instrument cluster.
I still haven't reassembled the dash yet so can easily check wiring etc.

You thoughts on what may have caused the issue and how I can fix it?

Theres a plastic gear on the back of the speedo. It goes brittle with age & eventually breaks. You can buy them new from America. http://www.944online.com/ I think you will find on here. I used them before & there ok. Small enough to go in an envelope so shouldn't break the bank. Look in accessories. :)

Yup Zims do them & I suspect a lot of resellers get them from Zim http://www.allzim.com/index.html

Is it the reset switch not working or the oddometer, if its the reset switch this is likely due to the vent button not lining up with the reset plunger behind the vent. If its the oddometer not going round like everyone said likely one of the cogs worn, I think the issue with resetting while moving was more to do with older 944s (square dash ones). If you can get the instrument cluster out easily then it might be worth checking the oddometer cogs have just not misaligned with the movement while changing the lights.

It's not this as I haven't put all the trim back yet. I've tried pressing the reset switch directly with a pen/screwdriver and the reading doesn't reset to 0. Tried this with the engine running and without the engine running. Made no difference.

It is working. Both counters are running correctly.

Any idea what exactly I need to look for? (I dont know what the cogs look like or how I can tell if they are as they should be or not) As mentioned, I haven't put the trim back yet so it's still fairly easy for me to pull the instrument cluster out.

If you go to the website I listed you will see a picture of the cog. It's on the back of the speedo. You have to remove the speedo from the cluster to find it. It's either in one piece or missing!
