Hi, guys,
My son's 1992 944 S2 Cab is somewhat overdue for a cambelt change - last job in a long list of jobs - we have been restoring it over the last few months and it is just about ready for the road.
Could anyone recommend a garage in the Hull, East Yorkshire area to undertake this job with any confidence?
What parts would be your recommendation to change?
Could I also ask, what sort of price would we expect to pay for this job at a reputable garage?
Cheers,
Bob

Let us know where you live & we can recommend a specialist local to you.

TBH if you are handy with spanners it isn't too difficult to do yourself, the essential special tool being a flywheel locking tool.
Unless you know when & what was last replaced then I'd budget for all new idlers & tensioners & obviously cam & balance belts. Some recommend a water pump every other set of belts so around 80K & 8 years. The other thing that does need checking & replacing if it hasn't been done is the cam chain & tensioners, this is essential as if the chain breaks then it'll wreck the head. Also knackered chains kill the cams.

I do not know how expensive these people are and have no personal experience but I know from the invoices in my cars history they did some fairly extensive engine work on my car before I bought it and it is still going strong 4 years later, so might be worth giving them a ring unless someone on here knows anything more about them. Ricci Concept http://www.ricci-concept.com/ based in Hull as was my car before I bought it and brought it to Gods country
