Visit to BMTR - Saturday 15th March

Post by PaulPSB »

Visit to BMTR (Birmingham Motor Tyre Repository)

This is the first motor event of the year and has been specifically organised to help get members get their cars ready for another season with Central Region TIPEC

This event is now confirmed and the visit will take place on Saturday 15th March as shown in your annual calendar of events

BMTR is at 103 to 115 Walsall Road, Perry Barr, Birmingham, B42 1TU.

Their web site is at http://www.bmtr.co.uk

BMTR is a master fitter of Pirelli tyres and there are not many with this qualification in the UK.

In addition to this BMTR provide tyres to Porsche OPC's, and fit tyres to Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin and other highly respected marques.

The visit will commence at 0930 hours with coffee courtesy of BMTR.

At 1000 hours there will be a talk by two people from Pirelli on everything from type manufacture and composition to tyre use, vehicle compatibility and driver use and abuse. Free goodies as well.

After the talk there will be a question and answer session.

At approximately 1045 hours there will be a trip into the fitting bays to see tyre fitting and balancing and an opportunity to get to understand the intricacies of tyre fitment and use. In addition to this there will be an insight into the Hunter laser guided vehicle set up equipment which is used for setting up a car in terms of wheels and tyres.

If any member wants tyres fitting on the day please send details to Brian and he will get a quote. We will then use the car(s) concerned as a demonstration on the day. However, this information is needed by 23rd February.

Members need to e-mail Brian with car type and tyre type to MyMerak@aol.com for a quote from BMTR.

This event is strictly numbers limited due to accommodation size and safety issues

Therefore, this visit is on a first come first served basis.

Members need to e-mail Brian at MyMerak@aol.com to secure a place.

If members want a set up on the Hunter equipment, BMTR are offering a substantial discount for TIPEC members. Unfortunately, this cannot be done on the day of the visit because it takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Normal price is £94 +vat but BMTR are offering this to Tipec members for only £60 +vat.

Just wanted to thank Brian for sorting this visit - absolutely top notch IMO.

From arrival to departure BMTR couldn't do enough for us. Tea,coffee, juice, croissants, pastries etc and a warm welcome were just the start of a great visit.

Don't want to say too much more as we'll write this visit up for the next issue of AT

Execellent morning, thanks to everyone involved!

Our hosts were amazing and showed some state of the art equipment.

Also gave an amazing quote as a club member for a set of PIRELLI PZERO ROSSO'S

I will be returning :D

Just want to add thanks to Brian and all the guys at BMTR and from Pirelli for a smashing morning.

BMTR were very hospitable and educational.

Only disappointment was Pirelli not handing out calendars to go with the hats! However the hat did stop me getting too soaked when out shopping in the afternoon!

Look forward to seeing the write-up in AT Paul, and I'm also pleased your instincts about the Albion were spot on!

I have to say I've always thought the Pirelli calendars were shocking and totally sexist - using the female form to drum up cheap publicity!

Can I have a copy? :headbang:

Told ya!

We're always terrible when we've played mid-week  One eye on the FA Cup and the league form is shot!!

I think it's more a Leicester City thing. We always put on dreadful performances against teams we should beat comfortably - especially at home - but do well against much better teams away. It's actually very frustrating for Leicester fans but has been like this for decades.

The red card helped though!
