I run up to 18 psi, but turn it up a little at a time and listen for detonation and back off sharpish, i am down to around 16 psi at the moment until i get the car set up, i went over to a Tial wastgete on the Turbo S which holds boooooooost for ever.

I run a target of 1.2 bar on my EBC but have seen it a max of 1.3bar. I think that is about 18psi as well.

My EBC has the High boost set to 1.1bar 17psi and low boost set to 1 bar 15psi. If I switch it off it runs at the spring rate of the wastegate - 0.8bar 12psi

What are you planning to run at Roy, and what supporting mods have you done so far?

hi paul

so for the car has promax chips, lindsey racing dual port waste gate, manual boost control, bailey dump valve,3 bar fuel pressure regulator, lindsey racing induction kit, full wortec stainless system.

i also have all the bits for the 2.8 stroker conversion but that will not be fitted for some time.

promax suggest a max boost of 1.15 bar - 16.6 psi.

is this slightly conservative ?

Sounds like a good figure to ensure your engine lasts a long time. Even then, if your head gasket is original it is quite possible to tip it over the edge as soon as you raise the boost a little. With a fresh gasket (and as long as everythng else is working perfectly) I've seen lots of guys running 18psi with no immediate problems.

Promax covering their arris which is understandable, i run on a Cometic headgaske which is bombproof as the car cooked itself last year on failiure of the fanswitch, well into red on the temp guage but the head gasket was fine afterwards.
Will be going Cometic wirh my 220, another argument to throw in is that the headgasketcan act as a "fuse" and fail before pistons and valves will...................your shout and very debateable.
