For Sale - £3750

I'm having to sell my beloved Guards Red 1986/D 944 Turbo. It has had masses spent on upgrades, servicing and has been maintained by Jon Mitchell while in my possession. I can no longer drive it due to a severe back problem and therefore cannot justify the outlay and upkeep of having it as a second car (I now drive a Mazda RX8 PZ). Unfortunately it hasn't been driven since November 2010. It is no longer taxed (on a SORN) or MOT'd. I have all the history and receipts for the servicing and upgrades and most of the service history from the previous owner who serviced it at Porsche Centre Bournemouth who may be able to fill in any holes.

It is an absolutely ideal car for someone to use as a track day project as I have already made the start (or even rebuild as a race car). It basically needs an owner that can do the work themselves. The engine and car are very solid it just needs someone to to work on the suspension and other niggles to finish it. It is very quick, not just for a 25 year old car but for a modern car and I have surprised many an M3 or Boxster driver with it!

Prices of Turbo's seem to be on the up and a good one should easily hit £5k-£6k. Other than my car, the cheapest Turbo that I could find on Auto Trader was £6500. Although it didn't need any work doing it was completely standard and of much higher mileage. My biggest regret with this car is I will never get to drive it finished.

Car Details:
1986/D.
116,625 miles.
Guards Red.
Black cloth pinstripe interior (very 80's).
Electric Sport seats.
Removable sunroof with leather case (case is very rare).
Luggage cover.
Cruise Control.
Non ABS model.

Work Done:
Extensive service history at Porsche Centre Bournemouth & Jon Mitchell Garage.
All belts (cambelt etc), pulleys, followers and seals in 2009.
New water pump in 2009.
Reconditioned power steering rack in 2009.
Recent top end overhaul after head gasket failed (was the original factory one and only had a pin prick size hole) in 2009.
Reconditioned Air Mass Sensor.
Reconditioned Throttle Position Switch.

Upgrades:
Pro Max 1a Chip.
K&N Induction Kit.
993 Turbo Re-circulating Dump Valve.
Boost Enhancer.
Uprated Fuel Pump.
3.0 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Performance Ignition Cables.
Silicon Vacuum Hoses.
Koni Adjustable Dampers (standard springs).
Drilled Brake Discs.
Pagid Fast Road Pads.
Goodridge Braided Brake Lines.
Adjustable rear anti-roll bar drop links.
Mille Miglia 17" Cup 1 Alloys with Continental ContiSport tyres that have a lot of life still in them.
I also have the original 16" alloys although these are in desperate need of reconditioning.

Work Needed:
Engine mounts.
Suspension bushes need replacing all round.
Central locking on passenger door (probably just the solenoid).
Air con can stick on hot, known problem with 944's, I have the part but due to the aforementioned back problem I haven't been able to fix it.
Small leak in the PAS reservoir.
A few other minor niggles.

Please IM me if you are interested or email me at t.gardner@me.com

Thanks for looking.

That is a cheap Turbo, good luck with the sale, i would have ben tempted myself but already have 2 and garaging for 2 only plus the fella from Barclaycard needs squared up !
Again.....good lusk now that Spring is here things may start moving, the hot air problem is either a broken clip under the dash on the heater control levers which cost coppers or the vaucuum hose have came of the little blue and black valve adjacent the bulkhead.
Cheers Jim.

Final reduction, for sale for £2995!!!

Honestly, I don't really want to sell & would rather do it up myself, in fact when I bought her I said to my wife that I would never sell, but I have a chronic back condition that leaves me laid up for months at a time. I'll be really sad to see her go 

Wow that is cheap and really doesn't need much doing to it at all.

If I had the money I'd gladly take it off your hands and sort it out but my own 944 is doing a good job of emptying my pockets.

Assuming fronts only? £320-£400 if very good I'd say. You can pick up a whole good interior for under £500.

A guy had the same seats as you (fronts only) from his 968 on Gumtree recently for £380 ono. They looked excellent from the pictures.

I am quite happy to be corrected if someone comes along and says that front seats alone are selling for a lot more than this!

I may have to sell the covers only then as the guy in the states wants £700 extra to supply full seats compared to the covers only :(

Ouch.

There's a blue pinstripe sports interior (fronts, rears & cards) currently on Ebay for £220 BIN.
