hi everyone ,i have a 1988 944lux 2.7 i have owned for about six years ,however one morning i jump in to go to work and she wouldn't start :( . I automatically thought dme relay i had replaced this a couple of years previously after suffering an intermitant starting fault and kept a spare cos they were only around £25 . so i replaced the dme relay but still no joy i then proceeded to check if i had a spark i had already replace the cap rotor and leads previously when i had serviced the car a couple of months earlier and checked them anyway as a matter of course all seemed well . i have power to the coil but no spark ... replaced the coil and still no spark ... now started the long and arduous head scratching process there was an immobiliser fitted to the car was not in use so i traced all the wires back and removed it to eliminate this causing the fault but still no joy i had the ecu tested and it came back no airflow meter out of calibration and was advised that this would not cause the problem but replaced it anyway .on the advise of on of the technicians that works for PH sports cars i replaced the ecu and crank sensors but still no spark ... any ideas ??? i miss driving the old girl Sean.

Ref. Sensors are a main fail point if there is no spark, happened on the 24S I had, there is a guide on Clarkes for testing them, if the BG one isn't sending a signal to the ECU you won't get a spark

By replacing things that are not known to be faulty you may have introduced new faults as well! Use the Clarkes troubleshooter & go through it methodically. Is the cranks sensor adjusted properly? Some new components come faulty so check everything you've done/replaced. Quality isn't what it was when these cars were made.

Did it have the factory alarm? You may try to bypass it!

Try re-seating the wires / connector found on a bracket on the rear of the cylinder head, if you havent already.
