"Additional surgery will take place on Thursday to stabilise fractures to Kubica’s right shoulder and right foot. Three or four days later, another operation will take place to treat his elbow fracture."

Quoted that from here on the F1 site.

Looks like Senna will miss out on a drive. "Renault to evaluate Heidfeld at Jerez test".

Firstly, glad Kubica is alive. It's a real shame as Kubica is a rising star in F1 and a future F1 world champ. I hope he makes a quick recovery and is back for the 2012 season. I'm sure he will be getting the best treatment possible.

I hope Senna gets the seat. No disrespect to Heidfeld but he's had his day. I would like to see what Senna can do now he's in some decent machinery. Time to give the young buck a chance.

I don't even think a quick car could help Bruno if I am honest. If he was a real talent then it would have shown even in a crap car. I am not saying he would have won races, but he would have at least shown his ability. He used to be properly quick apparently but the break he took from racing after his uncle died put him out the game. Just look at the grumpy German as proof! Schumacher has really lost the edge after just 3 years away

Hi,

I think these pictures, courtesy of Ian Grayson, really put the crash into perspective. The armco barrier has basically skewered the car down the middle, front to back. He's lucky to be alive.

Get well soon Robert!

Kubica is one tough cookie!!

I do believe that he will be back before the end of this season. I don't think that this latest crash will affected him mentally. After seeing the pictures, it was such a one in a million type accident that is unlikely to ever be repeated. That crash barrier came through the narrowest of gaps between the engine block and inner wing. I don't think you could ever do it again!

Pretty horrific! The barrier shouldnt have broken up like that should it? :o Mind you,Ive seen so many motorway accidents where vehicles just seem to go straight through them! :o

Barriers aren't supposed to break up like that, if the bolts are maintained and torqued up regularly. They thought the new wire ones would be easier to maintain, but my wife is testament to the fact that they don't work either. My friends daughter was killed in the passenger seat of a car in the UK that done exactly what was in the simulation, except it didn't go between the two front seats. The inquest said the barrier hadn't been maintained.
