Hi all.
I'm looking into getting an S2 in the near future.
What sort of mpg do you guys get in town and on a run?
After selling my 944 I bought a BMW 850 so I'm now used to 10mpg.

All the best Brett :)

Thanks for that Brett.
I do roughly the same distance to work as you so it would work out slightly better on juice than my V12.
Think I'm holding out for a manual though so may have to wait a bit longer to get a good one.

Hi :)

Yes an S2 will be better than a V12 lol :)

The best year for S2s is 86 ( like mine ) it has the S4 suspension and brakes and the 310 hp engine but they are fairly rare.... and manuals are even rarer....

All the best Brett :)

My 928 S4 did better than those figures above.

On a run I could get high 20's say 26-28mpg and that was at 80-90 mph

Round town I was getting 18-20 which is better than the Ferrari I replaced it with.....that does 15.

Mine was the S4 digi dash and it has average/instant fuel consumption but I tested it by brimming the tank to get the figures above. The computer was actually pretty accurate.
At full acceleration it showed 2.5mpg

Hi, MPG is pretty good on my S2 - id say around 25-28 on a motorway run and a bit less during town driving - not bad really with all things considered.

Good Luck with your search.

Cheers

Rob

Ideally I want a manual but I will go auto if thats all that is available.
Were they 3 or 4 speed?

Any more ifo on your cars spec Brett?
What quarter mile time did you get in the end?

It a great car!
A bit on the weighty side and dire fuel consumption but I love the shape and gadgets on it and the sound of the V12 starting up is like a spitfire. 8)
Everything is electric including the steering column and headrests!
Electrics are a bit of a nightmare at times and you need both batteries to be good or it throws a wobbler. Hates the cold too! I'm getting 11 mpg this week as its a bit warmer.

Hi :)

The 86 S2 was a sort of change over model between the S2 and S4 so it got suspension and brakes from the S4 including the 4 pot Brembos all round but kept the 16 valve 310 hp engine, which was the most powerful out of all the 16 valve engines...

About 85% of all 928s are autos so you may have a wait for a good manual although they do come up occasionally... although...if you are planning to use it in town... an auto is much better....you can use the gear holds and kickdown to drive the auto pretty much like a manual if you wish...

I now hold the UK 928 1/4 mile record at 13.03 at 113 mph plus the Top speed record at 208.10 ...both using Nitrous of course :)

All the best Brett :)
