Don't make me write out the full list, it's depressing!

Currently got the rear axle off the car awaiting some new bushes and replacing the fuel lines.

Then there are the belts, brake discs and pads, steering bits, tyres, windscreen etc etc before it goes back on the road for the first time in 10 years.

The 944S needs a new engine and a load of rust repairs so that can wait.

Full thread can be found here if anybody's interested, don't want to hijack the thread any further.

There was a thread on PCGB a few months ago about fitting the LS1 into a 944. IIRC Promax reckoned they could do it for 20K but that included the cost of finding a decent 951 and bringing it fully up to scratch before fitting the engine :)

Brilliant.
If it hadn't been for the last pic I'd have passed it off as a nasty 944 frankencar but with a V8 in the back that's a bit different.

I don't think I'd get them to do my bodywork mind!

That looks awful. What about a 944 & a V6 engine? GM 3800. Kit exists. 300HP. Lots of room. Insurable. No half-shaft problems. Gearbox within tolerance. ETC.

V8's are absolutely gorgeous sounding engines but to be honest they are too unresponsive and expensive to run for the UK. I had to part with my gorgeous 928 because of fuel consumption barely in 2x figures.

V6 sounds a much better option for more power . What other engine options are there for the 944 ? I have never heard of anyone fitting a Wankel rotary . That would be an interesting combination

I'm not convinced an LS1 in a 944 will be any thirstier than the 944 lump. For a start it is a current state of the art V8 giving good economy in the bigger yank tin that it is installed in. The 944 is considerably light that these so should be good.
As for a Wankel everyone I know with RX8s gets very defensive when fuel consumption is mentioned, some of the struggle to get into the 20's.

looks, hmm will be polite, not good.

LS1 is and old lump, much better to go LS7, but a lot more dosh.

all ally lumps can be got state side, 2 x iron cost but a lot lighter.

Good effort but looks more that a bit..... well wrong!

I still have dreams of an LS3 (about £2k cheaper that an LS7) but in the front using something like the Renegade Hybrids kit.
