Everyone who only uses their car on the odd occasion should buy a trickle charger.

I use the train for work and so barely ever use my beloved 944. She just sits on my driveway begging to be driven.

I made a simple plug which I bolted to the the battery terminals, then adapted the ends of the trickle charger cables with the same plug.
Every time I park up, I pop the boot, plug the charger into the battery and run the cable under car and over to my shed which now has power.

Never have any battery problems at all.

The trickle charger only turns on and charges up when it detects a fluctuation in the battery power. Once it is fully charged again the charger turns off automatically so you never cook the battery.

Genius invention and my Mini is kept plugged into one all the time as well.
As is my Dad's E-type and his old 928 S4.
None of us ever have battery problems any more.

I'll find out the make and let you know which one I use.

I like both ideas, but having been given a small solar PV demo panel with 12v battery charger on it, me thinks leave in boot connected to the battery, its only 20w or something but that will help trickle as it has a 12v battery charger circuit with overcharge protection built in.

I was going to fit to the caravan, but i'm going to put a 235w panel on the roof on that.

Does it have to be connected to the battery, can you for example have some current feed going into the cig lighter? will that get to the battery?????

Also cable idea was suggested by Dave, will look for the gromit and see, just needs to be easy to get to without jacking etc and crawling underneath, we have scissor jack and trolley jack just in case

hmmm just damn high Octain stuff, approx £2.80 per litre, put 30 in as was nearly empty, felt a lot more responsive and pulled stronger.

Sadly on the A92 witnessed tonight aftermath (just a couple of minutes before i got there) and just behind 1st police car effects of a head on between overtaking Corsa and some other car (destroyed) and another car involved as well (destroyed it was blue).

still feeling a bit sick multi RTD.

Drive carefully please, but i guess in this case it doesn't matter how carefully you drive if some A***hole decided to overtake when there isn't the space, It was grim believe me. Road closed in both directions still 2 hrs later. Probably will be all night.
