Need some assistance......

I was doing some work on my lights at the weekend on my Black 928 and whilst removing the passenger side Fog light/Side light lens, got 3 bolts out OK but the last bolt was stuck - as usual on these. So with some light tapping with the impact driver again, as with all the others.......then bang the lens exploded & shattered? No, I didn't hit it or contact it in any way, the impact on the last fixing screw must have just been enough to shatter it. Maybe some pre-stressed tension when it was made.

So, has anyone got a good condition passenger side lens or complete assembly? I don't really want to pay £140 for a new one from OPC or the German guy off ebay. So hunting round for a good S/H one if anyone has got one?

Cheers

Steve

Bugger sorry to hear that Steve. I've dislodged bulb filaments using the impact driver method but very cheap compared with the hassle/damage of drilling out those bolts. Never cracked the lens even with big whacks on driver.

You should definitely find a used one as if you buy a new one the other side will let it down. Same effect you get in a show shop when your old shoes look fit for a tramp!

Hi Adrian

I couldn't believe it shattered either - think it must have been faulty.

As for the other side - if you remember the other side was a new one when I got the black 928 so this side, fortunately, looked the odd one out and I was going to have to polish it up to get it to match the otherside. Hope to get a good S/H replacement unit from someone this week.

Cheers
Steve

Hi,

I've been searching for weeks for a S4/GT/GTS driving/fog light assembly so I can make a template for some light protectors. There's just none to be had. I've rung/e-mailed breakers - no one seems to have any second hand spares!!! :(

Have you tried Simon Watson? I know I'm typing this and I know you will have tried him, but I thought I'd just ask. Feel free to flame for asking a stupid question.

Tried Simon Watson but not heard back from him yet.

Got one coming from Simon P off 928.org so hopefully should have it before the weekend.

Many Thanks for all the help & suggestions.
Will let you know if it fits OK when it arrives.

Steve

As a Dutch man called Henk Van Der Stein once told me "There are no such things as stupid questions, you're only stupid not to ask questions".

You can get the complete assembly brand new on ebay for £140. I bought two (L/R) and they are genuine Bosch units when they arrive.

I know you can get the sets on Ebay for £140.
I sourced a Secondhand set for a fraction of that.
Cheers

So did I at first, well I thought I had...but when they came the glass on them was peppered with stone chips and the mountings were not perfect.
You were luckier than me to get good used ones! I paid £80 each and they were worse than the ones I had taken off. Sent them back and got a refund.
The car did look good with two brand new ones on. Worth it in my opinion.

I don't blame you if they were peppered.
The one I have isn't that bad and has polished up like new so matches my other side reflector great.

Cheers
