Hi all. Just been to the 944 to fire her up and run for a bit etc but am locked out. The battery must be flat but the key doesn't appear to open the doors or boot manually.

Any ideas?

Iv heard it's possible 2 remove the rear 1/4 glass with a plunger and some fishing line around the rubber seal.

Probably not a good idea to advertise that on an open forum

I think that its immediately obvious upon looking at the rear quarter glass; that it can be removed with a sharp knife. Getting into locked cars has never been a problem for the dishonest; only for the cars owners.

True, but why give them the idea in the first place?

Better this than have them punch a screwdriver through the door alongside the door handle - the more traditional way of breaking in.....

Sorry not trying 2 encourage, just trying 2 help out. I'm sure if someone was wanting 2 steal a car smashing the glass would provide the quickest route.

1/4 glass can be found pretty cheap compered 2 the door glass. If anyone wants 2 remove my post there welcome 2

Is there no way you could Jack the car up and get underneath the front and hook up a spare battery to the terminals on the alternator? Assuming you can get to it. I'm sure it would be a bitch to do though.
Rich.

Not sure if this is specific to an S2 but you can lock and unlock my doors with the key with the battery out although not centrally but each door individually, the hatch obviously will not open with no power but you can open the door get into the boot and pull the lock from inside to open that.

On my 87 944 you can open everything with the key & the battery disconnected! Don't really understand unless the key is wrong or a bad re-cut.

Jack up on the n/s and put a jump pack or leads on the starter motor connections.

There's been much debated over wether the boot will relise or not with a flat battery. Mine won't, but iv heard claims 4 both.

Like I said my S2 boot wont open without a battery connected and charged but the doors will certainly open with a key individually so I can not see how he can be locked out. If you can get into the cockpit then you can open the boot hatch from inside with a little gymnastics.

Doors locked, open boot put keys down on inside and shut boot! That's the only way I can see anyone getting locked out. !!!
