I have seen previous posts of 944 models with glass sunroof in place of the usual body coloured type.
I quite fancy a glass one and wonder if anybody can point me in the right direction
thank you
Alan

Made by a us company called saratoga, quite rare apparently although on the '£1500 top gear porsche special' both James Mays 44 and Richard Hammonds 924 both had them fitted from what I could see.

If you do buy one north of £500 + shipping + import duty, make sure you buy the right one. Early 924/944 ones are different to the late 944. You wouldn't want to pay near £1k to find you have the wrong roof curvature!!

The glass Saratoga Tops were available to fit manual or powered sunroof cars. The two types have different mountings. They were also available in brown or grey tints. They were only sold in the US and are rare even over there, hence the high prices. You can expect to pay over a thousand pounds once you've bought and shipped one safely to the UK.

Both of the sunroofs on the Top Gear look like after-market products. They're not big enough to be originals. They probably had them fitted themselves.

Take a butchers hook over on Rennlist. Theres a guy who is making them using the original Saratoga one as a template.

He is only asking about $350 for one when his limited production line is up and running.

Hi,

There's a guy selling one on 944 online (US version of TIPEC). Click the link below:

http://www.944online.com/cgi-bin/forum/ ... 1289245465

Don't know if it's any good but you could register on the website for free and PM him. Sounds like it needs a little work though but may still work out cheaper.
