I went to the post office today and saw an advert in the window (no idea how it caught my eye!) that says

Porsche 944S
Reg: RIW 9061
MOT and Taxed until end of March.
Drive away £1000 ono

I popped around to see the car as it is two roads away from me and looks to be in reasonable condition a few marks but I'd say ti could be yours for £800 which isn't bad. Needs a bit of tlc but obviously know 944's as they have had a few parked outside their flat over the years. It looks pretty straight so would be an ideal project. it's silver btw.

I'll try and get some piccies tomorrow, but if anyone is interested then feel free to send me a message. I wanted to buy it myself but the missus for some reason thinks I have enough cars right now

agree with you there (everything has it's price). Having had a look around it though. Looks like it's got a set of 18" 964 Turbo Split Rim Alloys (would have thought they'd be worth £500 on ebay) and the body is in good condition bar a small crack on the front bumper near the spotlight. So even if it's in need of a little work it doesn't seem awful amounts of money. As I said it'd be a potential good project car if somebody 'like me' wanted a trackday toy for a few thousand.

Hmmm sadly it's probably worth more as spares. you could however do worse than turn up unannounced and ask for a test drive 8) how much tax n test has it got? could make a years fun motoring for someone?

The engine condition would be critical. If it's never had a head overhaul it will need one. Thats around a grand on one of these. (2 camshafts to replace if the teeth are knacked.) Add another to be realistic. If theres no rot & the interior isn't too awfull it could be worth doing. You can spend 3K & still end up adding another 3. A mint S sold on Piston heads in 3 days with an asking price of 6K recently

at a grand with less than 1 months T+T i suspect work needed, possibly welding, with that plate would probably be worth more in parts, so out of about 3500 R.O.W. 944S's another one about to bite the dust i suspect, quite sad really, i know the yanks loved the S, but i wonder how many RHD examples survive now ?

You can get it tested up to 1 month in advance iirc, so you could feasibly ask them to put it through the MOT prior to any sale? If he gets nervous then walk away safe in the knowledge that it is probably a pup.
