So the 968 is in my garage and I am slowly changing all the oil seal on the front of the engine etc. The battery is disconnected and I carefully left the boot open as the lock is electronicaly operated. Today someone kindly shut the boot of the car, agghhhhhhhh :-(
How do I open the boot again, the key on its own does nothing.

You need to crawl in through the back seats and release the press studs holding the carpet to the rear panel around the spare wheel. If I remember correctly, there is a wire loop on the near side of the spare wheel which you need to pull to release the hatch.

Edit - Just read that the car is a cabby. Open the passenger door, remove the plastic vent which gives access to the inside of the rear quarter panel and you should find a wire loop somewhere inside which you can pull to release the boot lid.
