In my eyes the best shape coupe ever made,
the rear arches through the mirrors,
the way it makes me feel when I get in it,
the comfort and driving position
and the handling

Plus I have to agree if it gets regular use then very reliable, reasonable mpg and performance.

Still can't believe I have owned a 944S and really annoyed at myself at the thought of smashing it into a lampost. I love the Boxster that I now own and to be honest I don't think Porsche have ever made a car I wouldn't like to own but the 944 was something special.
1. The pop up headlights.
2. The flared arches in the mirror (which made me purposely angle the mirrors in slightly to get a better look).
3. The really brutal sound when you first turn the car over.
4. The beefy look of the rear end when your behind one.
5. The look of what the fu#k is that cool Porsche that 17-30 year olds give at the lights.
6. The look of fu#k me I always wanted one of those that 30-60 year olds give at the lights.
7. The feeling of it's a PORSCHE 944 AND I OWN IT when you catch people looking. :D

In short I would own another 944 in a shot even after the much more modern Boxster. I loved the fact that I was the only one driving a 944S around in my area and get pissed off at the fact that there are alot of other Boxsters knocking about.

Grin Factor.

Looks incredible. Chunky yet svelte - the 944 is a master class in design for me.
Easy enough to tinker on for the willing amateur mechanic.

You can't get more bang for your sportscar buck than a good Lux - you can still go fast enough with amazing acceleration to boot.

Grin Factor.

JJ, Some Turbos are running substantialy more than 250 BHP mine included, the early 220 blocks with forged internals are good for 500 hp.
This is unlike Scoobies and the like which tend to blow up or destroy gearboxes when tinkered with.
Usually driven by fatblokes who wear lots of Subaru rally clothing or trackies tucked in socks types off somewhere to score or drop off class A

My recent purchase has been running over 400hp for the last 4years and 300-350 for 10years with no issues. Standard 140,000mile old bottom end. Still sounds smooth as silk (smoother than a standard car actually?!)

Hi Frenchy:)

Hi Frenchy:)

Looks good but where are the pic's. I just remember Fens that went bang at 350HP. Dropped a rod. There must be a reason there putting LS1's in now. There only 350 stock (Though easily tuned.)

I think given the choce I would keep it Porsche and run a high turbo, but the cost after 350 bhp makes the ls a cheaper more reliable choce. But it's not really true 2 the car. Any car can be fast by swapping an engine. Tuning the car is a different league, a more expensive one!

I love it purly on the shape, I wish it wasn't a Porsche at times, cost and the asoation of Porsche owners. Or people thinking ur trying 2 be.

These cars require love 2 up keep them. They cernlty arnt an investment, there a time bomb on wheels!
I'm waiting 2 come home and find the dash has cracked or the clutch has gone or some other 20 year old component has finally failed. But it's the car I want, dispite cost. iv said it loads if i had the money 2 buy any car i would buy a 944 turbo and make it mint, and fast!
I get aleast one person a day comment on my car, and I wouldn't care if no one else liked it, but most seem 2 :D

I have so many people tell me I could off got this or that with the amount off money invested, and yeah try prob would be quicker, better. I'm sure the 944 can be upgrade with new parts but if u took that cost and put in in another car you could prob out match it. or get more 4 your money.

But I love looking at it. I'm a very picky persons, and won't wear colthes with cerntion sticking and stuff,

I went 2 art school, did graphic design so I think iv got a good eye

Just to keep it on topic for me I love the fact its as good as a T-bar convertible but with the chassis rigidity of a coupe, it is a true sports car to drive but with the comfort and practicality or a GT, as a Porsche from the 80's it probably rates in the top 10 best built cars ever made so its endlessly reliable and its fast enough that to pass me you'd have to be either very wealthy or very uncomfortable.

In response to the above Frenchy its Ben from Le-mans, surely there can't be two of you with that user name!

J.J - like the user name. Besides my love of boost I could never own an LS1 944, its not an originality thing or an issue of degrading the brand.. I just don't think it suits the driving character of the car. Not at all. An Ls1 never feels or sounds like its trying/a 944 turbo feels and sounds like its giving it everything when your driving it hard. For me that makes the driving experience.

Sorry to ruin this thread! Niffty951 is my other internet name I use on Pistonheads and the like and I have moved to Plymouth to go back to University and will be living here for the next three years :P (really off topic but my phone was playing up and I only discovered you left me a message asking if I got home ok about a month after you sent it. So yes thank you v.much :D )

The car has gone through some major work since you saw her last. You will be treated now with the most recent picture of her that exists anywhere (never seen before), including her new back lights, new exhaust and almost finished paint job. It was only a dusty work shop pic as she was awaiting some final work to iron out the last few imperfections but its the last one I have. She's now finished and having worked in a bodyshop many years ago, so speaking with a small degree of experience on the topic I can say its the best spray job I've ever seen, I'm extremely impressed with the quality of their work. They have seamlessly cut in new metal sections to remove any rust on the sills, fully rust protected the insides of all the panels and blocked back/flatted the paintwork to a standard rarely seen on modern cars. She now also has a fibreglass front end and overall I'd say this summer I've broken the back of the work required to restore her back to showroom new condition :D 8) :D very happy, but pockets now very empty so the rest will have to wait till next year

Cheers :D I feel very lucky to own her.

I meant to say also that t3rra's car is probably the nicest 944t I've ever seen. Saw the pics on another thread and just thought yes! That is one smooth looking 944! I've always thought they look best in black, somehow more modern but that one with the deep, smooth spoke wheels and front splitter - well if it was an inch or so lower it would be impossible to improve upon :occasion5:

p.s. I agree with your comments too. I think truly money no object I would have a CGT or an LP670 for their perfect acoustics and a 993 turbo (in black) for the beauty parked in my garage also, but as a car to drive every day, enjoy on long trips, blast round a track and to cheer me up on my way to work. The 944 will I believe never now be surpassed.. they just don't build them like they used to ;)

Thanks :D

Shhh! Don't tell anyone but it's just an S  yeah I am going 2 lower it a bit but I want 2 do it with a new tight set up. The splitter is a pro 9 one, brought from eBay.( there £350 at the porcshe shop) I also blended the join seamless. Fitted quite well, but I got 2 the demerol out and cut the bumper to fit. There thread on it some were, but it dose hit the floor at times, but only on silly designed floor levels, don't hit on speed bumps, but iv prob got worn soft springs.

Yeah or a 964 turbo rs!

Think there's one off these spiltters on eBay un used project going 4 £60
