Had a oil seal leak, fixed and new belts put on. Had the water pump and rollers changed Along with the belts 13000 miles ago. But the leak was missed, so Iv just had the belt done again. I had an oil change, so I was checkin oil 2 see if sny needed toping up and noticed the water was low! Took about 6-8 glass 2 fill but I couldn't see a leak. Drove 1 mile and temp started 2 rise. Up too 2nd white mark. Then came down 2 half and kept bounce between half and 2. It's never been that high b4. I thought my cooling fam relay had given up. Iv drove 3 more miles 2 tesco and noticed oil coulor/ burnt metal /steam on the drivers head headlight pulled up and pop the bonnet some steam escaped, and iv got no water in header tank, or any resatance from the hoses. The tank was cold and there was no pop then the cap was removed. Any advice call me
07525374985

I can call u back

I'm now stuck at tesco

Sorry Terry I can't understand your post except that it sounds like you need the AA to tow you to the garage that did the work. Tough luck. :(

Well I drove the car back, home, there's a trail off water along my road, from the drivers side off the car. All the hoses feel like they depresurised. I can pinch them flat, with ease. Iv phoned the mercanic, as I have his moblie number, repeatedly. He seems pretty conferdent it's not the pump. But it was empty when I got it home last night. As there was no water under the car today and the system required so much 2 refill. I didn't notice the gague read any thing usual last night, and didn't have the steamed paint.

I thought I had found a split in the large horn shape hose. Which iv got a 2nd spear at home which came with the header tank I was going 2 try a whiten. But looking at it there's a hard 2nd casing around the middle, this could be what I saw and thought it was a split. Iv replace the lower radator hose when I had the head gasket done.

There's steam more then water spraying up but there water from below the car.

Won't no till I look in the day light.

If the water pump had failed what would be the results? Is there any noise or would it trow the cam belt off?

Any one? Jj did you say there's some cheap shit pumps out there? I think the last garage ordered all the parts in so iv got no idea what brand it was. But it was still 200 +

Can one hose cas all the water 2 be lost? Is the steam the water spraying against the engine? Would steam come from a pump? I can't see what else it could be. The belts sounded a tad tight but not loud. I couldn't hear the pump making any squecking noise.

Hi Terry

Don't know too much about the 944 (924 man myself) but I do wonder if your headgasket has failed and all the water is disappearing through your exhaust pipe. Is there any evidence of water in the oil and vice versa? Also, the water could be leaking out of the head joint and running down the block.

No water from the exshust end it's all around the front left head light. Also the head gasket was done 6000 miles or so ago. There's nothing under the oil cap.

Iv done some web searchs, but iv found nothing. I can re fill the header tank with ltrs 2 off water. But it don't get in around the system or show any signs off leaking. I'm thinking that the system needs 2 run 2 push the water around the system. I'm sure that's it takes more then 2 ltrs 2 fill the the whole system. If it was the pump would I see it leaking from it? I'm thinking it's a split hose. And it's leaking on the call up, rather then the leaking from the bottom off the hose. Wondering if the hard line could be the cullpert.

2ltr will cas an air lock as well? Should I run the engine and fill the tank while it's running? Be home from work about 7 are have a nose about. R remove the airfilter and mayb belt covers? But it's deff the right side o drivers side off the block

Hey T3rra if there's steam around the headlight are you sure your mechanic hasn't split the radiator or can you see water leaking from around the block area too?

To fill my cooling system I removed the top hose from the block and filled via the hose until water was coming out the top of the block where the hose was attached, re-attached the top hose, removed the bleed bolt from the top of the block then filled the header tank until water was coming out of the bleed vent. Minimal air blocks in the system that way run it up and watch for that leak, with the system full it should start to leak fairly quickly.

As an aid to finding leaks, fill the system with water leave the cap off the coolant tank.
Get your 12v tyre compressor and attach it to the small overflow pipe on the coolant tank, turn the compressor on and put your hand over the top of the tank to stop the air escaping.
This will presurrise the system and any external leaks should show.

Thanks guys,
Is this something easily done? He would off been working around the belt area and oil filter and oil sender. Iv also got a snapped roll bar braket. Is this in an area were it could cause this damage?

but don't look like are be home before dark now, carsh on the m25 again. The top hose? Is this the one that runs under the head light beam? Iv got a 2nd hand hose setup. MIT get me moving. Is there any other possible damage caused from this? The temp light never came on and the journey was prob 10mins at most.

Sorry Terry I drowned my mobile & live a long way from London. If the water level drops too low the gauge doesn't work anymore. I would have gone for recovery. Hope it didn't boil. Leaving the cap off helps if it's a blown hose as it stops it pressurizing. Driven 200 miles like that with mine! 70 seemed to be the speed that stressed it the least. Good airflow & minimal throttle. If you can't afford the AA get a Lloyds gold account. Recovery thrown in along with travel insurance etc for £5 a month.

Yeah I was going 2 stop every 2 miles and add water, but once I got up 2 60 is was air cooled. Temp stayed low till I got in 2 a 30 zone, iv got some cover with my bank, but couldn't rember if it was aa or not. I havnt got a toe I hook 4 the front and the rear hole is filled, but I no were it is if really nessary. Well iv found the reson. As mentioned in another post. Thought it be better 2 post a new post so everyone can see rather then think this one hadn't been updated. Iv taken some pics. Will upload when I get the chance.
