When I was 19 (1987) I had a 1982 Crapri which cost me about £350 fully comp.

Over two weeks wages at the time, seems a bargain compared to £7k + :o

Does seem like a huge bargain really but I'm not going to complain I chose to by the car and new exactly what to expect doesn't seem so bad when you already know what to expect.

By the way what sort of capri was it as I quite like capris mostly the 3.0l and the RSs though.

It started life as a Calypso 2.8 look a like with the 6 clock dash, pepper pot alloys and silver over graphite body colour.

A 3ltr was written off on the motorway and was brought into a recovery storage yard. I finished up buying the engine and a few other bits before it was scrapped and had that fitted by the lads on site.

I ran it for a couple of years and it was truly awesome in a straightline. I kept spinning it and scared myself silly one day on the M1 heading into Leeds so I decided to sell it before I killed myself.

Sounds like it was a fun beast if a little dangerous.

Had a really good drive home from work today the long way and looking at the amount of condensation that had built up in the filler cap it certainly needed it.

i looked at a black 3.0S when i was 21 (couldn't get insurance below 21) but smoked badly from 1 exhaust, needed half an engine rebuild ?, bought a 2.0S cortina mkIV which was very tail happy until i uprated the suspension, sold it to my sister and she ran it for a few years until it failed MOT, then her husband took it to hednesford and did the demolition derby (banger racing)

I quite like some of the old Fords Cortinas, Capris and Mk1 and 2 Escorts the Lotus Cortina and Capri RS3400 have to be my favorites.

Is that the one with the Cologne V6 and did the glassfibre panels look like the Broadspeed Capri race cars because they looked amazing.
