At a guess I'd say the pipe was there to suck any oil vapour or bits of the belts out of the way of the belts and rollers.

That's starting to be my line of thought after the mess I found in the air box, if so I can vouch for it doing the job. If it wasn't for the fact I was cleaning the parts as my grease monkey was taking stuff off I'd not have noticed.

Scrapped on later cars although the vent ports stayed on both items.

The bit I don't get is when people fit a cone filter instead of the air box and attach a small crank case breather filter to that little hose. Surely that's doing absolutely nothing now and a rubber bung in the plastic cover would do pretty much the same thing?

Especially when the intake filter is fitted right behind the radiator.....

My '83. Hasnt been drivin properly in about 3-4 years unfortuntly so will need a fair bit of work, Front wing was rotten at the bottom, thats now fixed, back of the sill needs a bit of work, thats next on the list :( And the whole thing needs painted but that will have to wait a year or so, wont have the money to get it painted and on the road this year, so just drive it ratty

And within the first few months the dme relay failed and the crank sensor, and i removed the ariel from the wing now it wont start again so have to check all the conectors at the back of the fuse box, bloody old cars

Those top mounts you can see are the Lindsey racing adjustable ones. The suspension is a fully rose jointed set up with solid bush uprated camber mounts and all sorts of bits. This is probably the first 944 I've ever owned with zero understeer, although the factory standard '85 car was very good, very different even from my '86 220 turbos.

I'm looking to make a page for the car with all the mods listed as its a long list but I haven't found anywhere yet.

I bought this car completely done for a change after spending 5 years with my previous car off the road and knowing all the money/tears that went into its 3.2ltr turbo engine work I decided buying a car that someone else has put the time into and done right is the way forwards.

I've actually no idea what hp the car is running but it dyno'd a documented 404hp on the rollers of truth (Silverstone rolling road day) 4-5years ago with its original 130,000 mile head and coke'd up valves. Now its running a heavily worked stage IV big valve head and much better boost control with a higher boost level.. Power is anyone's guess but really all I need to know is, its enough. Full boost in third on a cold night it reaches for the sky, kicks its occupants into the seat backs and skips/hopps over the road surface like a lightweight speed boat skimming a lake. A very satisfying experience.

Hi and welcome from me.

Not jealous at all  Your car looks absolutely amazing. We need to see a list of mods and experiences. Similar to what I was hoping to aim at cash willing  I've kind of started.

You're not that far(ish) from me so hopefully we'll see each other at a show or something and compare cars :bounce:

Happy Boosting

Andy

Cheers v.much. I've known the car for almost 10years and I was very lucky. Besides the money Rick put literally thousands of hours into developing the car over the years and I was honoured he decided to call me first when he wanted to sell her :blob5:

It would be worth so much more in parts that he wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it/love it for what was and not be tempted to split it for parts/money. He chose well there. To me the car will always be worth more than the sum of its parts, its value and rarity far exceed the money you could make. It's epic fun in a ready made package, just add petrol. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I will definitely see all of you at meets. I've left the construction industry to study Engineering full time for the next three years so it won't be getting as much use as I'd have liked but it will certainly be down here with me as soon as I move out of halls and have somewhere safe to park it.

I just noticed in your signature a Jon M special. That wouldn't be the one that had a big air scoop in the middle of the bonnet with blood red seats and blacked out windows. Jon was trying to get me buy that one when I bought mine from him. The engine had been changed back and the bonnet scoop lost couple years ago.

Yes that was mine. Scoop is gone but the engine remains so far as I know. I went out in it as a passenger at Silverstone earlier this year. It was running 420+hp and 500lb/ft torque at the time.. as quick and refined as a new Nissan GTR down the main straights! The Nissan was exiting the corner onto the straight faster and braking later but both cars were hitting the same peak speed. Awesome machine!

Thought there couldn't of been that many 3.2 black cars with red interior's. Jon was saying the 3.2 was coming out to go in another car otherwise I might of bought it. Probably more reliable than my engine at the moment, having many many problems with it after the JM mods which they don't seem to be able to rectify yet
