Nope! Talking to Kirk at Zims while I was in the US last week. He showed me one, they are made of kevlar by Gates but the change interval is the same at 45K, we suspect that part of the idea is that they are more resistant to oil contamination. They are also $100 against $15 or so for a standard one! :?

Hi :)

Jim is right yet again lol...

When I was a Crew Chief in Top Fuel we always had Blower belts breaking, and these were MASSIVE belts ...around 4 inches wide...lol

Anyway we tried EVERY make we could find to "hopefully" stop them breaking or being thrown...

We tried cheap ones, expensive ones and every other type...

Absolutely no difference between them all :(

Its really just a matter of physics.....

Big strong iron/ally/steel engine vs rubber or reinforced belt....

The engine ALWAYS wins....

Yes they may be better on liquid contamination but thats about it....

There is a "Racing belt" for 928s now as well...yes I would fit one if handy but would still change at specified intervals....

All the best Brett :)

I fitted one just for the added security ! but will still change it at the specified time,
Side by side against the normal one it does feel a little stiffer and its a nice blue colour.
Also got really good service from Rennbay.

Well these days no one want 2 take responablty 4 anything. But I bet you be happyer 2 change at 45k and not early which sees 2 be the sirguested approach. In 20 years surely belts must off got better? Or they just design the engine 2 minmlize belt damage. Wonder if they did test it's longer term endurance and found it won't last longer then 45k.

Hi :)

I see your point about endurance but I doubt they would EVER guarantee it will last longer ...as in THEY pay for a new engine if it breaks...

As an example...on 928`s the rule is ...change the belt EVERY 4 years or 40,000 miles....and even if mine had only done 4 miles in 4 years I would still change it as its bye bye engine if it goes... :(

All the best Brett :)
