Zero revs and max 3 bar oil pressure, should the ls1 have higher oil pressure than that ?

Assuming the oil pressure gauge has been recalibrated the 3 bar is 45PSI so OK. General rule of thumb is 10PSI for every 1000RPM
Looks like 3ish at Idle & near 4 when revving so that is say 55PSI or so.

Out of interest how much does an LS1 go for and how much work is required to fit on to oh I don't know....a 944S :)

ETA: Just seen that you can get a new LS1 for £4400...maybe not then.

Yup new uns go for £4.5K but you'd need to add some bits. S/H motors in the UK are around £3.5K with ancilaries, the kit from Renegade Hybrids is around $1,800 or you can stitch your own for less as most of the bits are standard GM. The only bits that aren't are engine mounts & the torque tube adapter.
Great forum here with drawings of most of the bits & part numbers of the GM bits http://944hybrids.forumotion.com/

Seen second hand LS1's for $1500 with as little as 40K miles. Makes it quite attractive. :read2:

I did quite a lot off reading up on this, about half a year ago. But as I'm quite new 2 cars I hardly understood. There's a book on amazon 4 sale that's all about 944 ls swap.

Mad rob, from my understanding your best base would be a 951 as most parts are all ready beefed up. But I own an S and I'm looking 2 do this in a few years. When u think an extra 6 grand and ur have a car that will out run most. Also most super car specs. Makes the cost seem worth while.

Expressaly in the car shape we have all fell some what in love with.

Well when you do the swap I want first dibs on your old engine ;)

I'm not too fussed about having a car that can outrun everything to be fair, just wondering what it would take. I like things to be a bit slower and focus more on a good handling car as anything too quick I'd never get the full potential out of due to being a bit rubbish behind the wheel. I'd probably end up stuffing the car and me into a hedge given V8 power anyway.

I should really stop day dreaming and get on with fixing the car.

Well that really depends on how much power u want, packages range from 350-600 and 4.5-6.2ltr. The faster it becomes the more money the other parts and reliability will be. Most chosse this after 350 bhp is all they can squeeze out off there turbo without spending more then the swap. But I think are be happy with just 350bhp. It's very rearly you get 2 hit the redline in a 944. I think any more then 350 bhp would seem a waste, Unless motorway blasts, but then when ur sitting a 30 ur gas gulgging on a 6ltr! What would be interesting is some solid figures and times. People who have done these swap already hardly putting the figures on the table.

Be interesting 4 some urgrsde turbos driver 2 speak up!
