Just doing the final check list of bits I need that I can't get locally before I go in for surgery on the car :D

Are the Arnnworx thin and pin wrench a worthwhile investment in respect of the cost for reduced hassle on the job?

Any tips on where to try for best prices for the belts and rollers kit and front seals kit would also be appreciated.

Recommend JMG for the belts rollers & front seals. IF anything fails they will replace free of charge & pay the postage! Nobody else goes that far. :D If you get a better price from euro car parts they will beat it by 10% as well. :? http://www.jmgshop.com/ Get all my bits from these guys now.
edit: Great free tec' advice for members too.

All the bits for mine came from Bert at Berlyn. Not the cheapest but helped on Matts car when we needed some support, with photocopies of Porsche TSBs etc.

As regards the tools, the essential bit is the flywheel locking tool, everything else can be dealt with. e.g. to undo balance shafts without wrench use the balance belt to hold the pulleys. My guess is that with the flywheel lock & a Krikit you can do the belt change. Additional tools may make it easier to specific tasks but aren't 100% needed to do the job.

I've got the Arnnworx kit and it paid for itself the 1st time I used it. Thin and pin wrenches made job easy...

Aaahhhh, I get them now. I'd never seen them before. They look good for the diy man. They would pay for themselves if you were doing all your own maintenenace.

Followed JJ's tip and popped onto the JMG site and they also do some of the tools http://www.jmgshop.com/944-tools-69-c.asp and no having to wait for shipping from the US, although my water pump and flywheel lock only took 6 days to arrive from across the pond.

Took the belt cover off mine yesterday and found the balance belt in a mangled mess down the bottom  Wondering if I'll notice the difference when I've completed the op on the car, I've read there's not much difference below 2500 revs with the belt off.
