The 993/996 version is solid plate (unlike the 901 version in the pic above) The soild plate probably is slightly flatter, the 901 type can easily be "squashed"

Sorry to threadjack but this is something I was wondering about bonnet badges.

I have an 83 car with the welded on badge panel (well it has screws in it but it still doesn't come off when they're removed) and with the badge removed there are two little plastic sleeves that the lugs fit into. the problem is one of these lugs has pretty much self destructed and without removing the badge panel I imagine fitting the style with the 'speed nut' style fixing could be a royal PitA.

Anybody know if these plastic sleeves are still available or am I just going to have to hire a contortionist in order to fit a new badge?

Well iv just fitted it, and I think it looks much better. And it does have a curve 2 it. But is much flatter as it don't hump from the bottom 2 the top. Therefore look much flatter. Took some pics so will post them up

you could try to push the remains of the lug through with a jewellers type screwdriver or something similar, you can also very carefully (after removing the 5 screws where the lead edge of the bonnet sits) lift the badge panel up and pop the plastic sleives out, the new badge comes with 2 rubber nut type holders

Plastic grommet available from OPC 99970217550 expensive though....................14p each

Is the old badge even "gold" it looks silver?

Yes it gold, but nowhere near as strong in colour as the new style the badge it self is only 8 months old.
