Hello,

I've been searching long and hard before posting this as I haven't managed to find an answer to this question...

Car: 944 S2 cab 1991

The bracket that connects the front antiroll / sway bar to the car (not the drop links) has broken and I've just managed to get hold of a new one.

Questions is:
Do I have to disconnect the antiroll bar at the wheel end and slide the bracket up over the existing bush (which is in good nick)?
Or is there an even easier way of doing this?

I'm going to be tackling this tomorrow and will add photos as I go. I don't think it's a tricky job, but if someone could give me a pointer or two before I start that might make things a little quicker.

Depends what state your drop links are in as to your chances of getting them off. The thread sticks out a bit & will corrode. You will need new locking nuts as you can only use them once. (Self lockers only lock once.) There not big money from OPC or JMG. Easier to replace the drop links at the same time. I did the lot on mine. (You should replace the bushes at the same time.) One of those jobs were an ounce of practice beats a ton of theory. :)

OK, so that was easier than expected.

For reference:
Once the car is off the ground and the wheels have been removed:
1) Remove the undertray by removing the 6 x 10mm bolts (very easy)
2) Undo the antiroll bar clamps (two 13mm bolts on each side)
3) Undo the drop link bolts (17mm) on each side.
4) using fairy liquid to lubricate, slide the bushes off the antiroll bar
5) Fit the new bushes into the new clamps
6) Slide the bushes onto the antiroll bar
7) Apply the new drop links onto the ends and bolt them into place
8) In order to get the antiroll bar up into position so that the clamps can be bolted into place (the 13mm bolts), I needed to use another jack pushing upwards on the antiroll bar.
9) Bolt the clamps into place

All good. Whole operation took about an hour, including faffing.

Not bad, given that an OPC had quoted me GBP250 just to replace the clamps and bushes (price didn't include the drop links).
