Hi everyone,

Wife driving our 968 down M25 when clutch wouldn't come back up as she tried to change gear.
Pulled over on hard shoulder & managed to just pull it back up, but did find a small (inch long but looks broken one end) brass looking rod (like a wooden dowel u get in flat packs but brass) on the floor. Managed to get home but with the clutch feeling very stiff and jerky & not so much of free play feel on first couple inches of pressure.

Did have a look underneath but can't seem to see where this has come from. Even looked at the parts catalogue to see if it brought any light to this but nothing definate.

Any ideas what it maybe before giving to Porsche & losing money I needn't have??

Am booked for Silverstone Classic fri so want to sort before then.

Sounds like clutch slave (most likely) or master cylinder has died. Not sure what the rod is, maybe spurious.
Either master or slave are around £60 & reasonably easy to do.

It doesn't sound hydraulics to me. Usually if you loose hydraulic fluid, the clutch won't disengage.

When you say that you found the rod on the floor, was it on the floor of the car (under the clutch peddle) or was it under the car? If it was in the car, I suspect that it is part of the operating level which connects the clutch peddle to the master cylinder.

If it isn't part of the pushrod as above, it might be the fulcrum pin or the pin connecting the pushrod to the peddle.

The fulcrum is a bl00dy big bolt & the pushrod is integral with the master cylinder, there is a clutch helper spring with a spring clip & clevis & the exact detail of the helper spring is hidden in PET & I cannot see the detail. The rod could be the clevis but I've never heard of one dropping out on a 944.

Moral of the story , never let the wife drive your Porsche

Upon further inspection it seems this small piece of brass rod has snapped from a longer piece with a thread adjuster on it that runs through the middle of a small fat blue spring that obviousely seems to bring the clutch pedal back up in a smooth fashion.
I will have to end up taking to garage as I dare not take apart as will be stranded if can't re-assemble.

P.S. Well I did rack my brains in search of a way to blame the wife for it........but thought best not to go down that road hehe
