Hi All,

I know this isn't Porsche related but anyway it's a great car enthusiasts story...

I heard a bit of a throaty engined car pulling up outside my house whilst in the shower this morning. Didn't think much else of it until I'd got changed and looked out the window. Now I don't know about other people but it's not often you get a Ferrari F430 parked outside your house.

So, I grab the camera, go outside and start snapping away. Anyway, the car it turns out belongs to a lad who was visiting his mother in the street. I'm busy snapping away and out comes the owner. First thing I say is "I don't know what job you do Mr but you must be good at it". We get talking and it turns out he's in advertised. Next thing, I'm in the car going for a spin round the block (shame I was in the passenger seat!).

What a car. I was surprised how quiet it was around town. When we found a quiet straight piece of tarmac...My god it was like God's plumbing. I was plastered into the seat with the acceleration. Gear after gear, the sound was unbelieveable. I was grinning ear to ear. I want one of these, I want one of these, I want one of these I kept repeating in my head. It's intoxicating good. I'd just keep slowing down so I could speed up again for the noise.

Anyway, the little drive out is over all to soon. :( Even better though, the wife has just pulled up with the kids and weekly shop. We pull up and she's gorping at the Ferrari. Then, out I pop, thanked the nice gentlemen for the 'lift' and off he roars down the street. I walk past the wife (who's chin is now on the pavement) with a massive smile and say nothing. My daughter chirps up "Wow Dad. I like that man's posh car". I say "I know love, so do I". The wife is just stood there uttering "How...what...Lift?...Who was that?". It was beautiful the look on her face.

Perfect and I'm still grinning about it whilst writing this post. :D :D :D

My first ( and last ) ride in a Ferrari was a 'very' long time ago in what was at the time quite a new 308GTB.

I think to say that you have pipped that one is an understatement, I really do love the 430.

Funny story Ben, I stopped at a friends house on the way home from visiting my wife tonight and his brother in law arrived too. Long story short, yes please. Cheered me up no end, what a tune from the exhaust.

Basically, my friend had a Dino 4 seater, then a 308 GTB, then a Testarossa ( formerly owned by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd ) and now has a 550 Maranello. At least the engine is at the right end on his car. Both cars are going to Knockhill this weekend, so if you see them!!

Lots of red italian porn........

When I used to race model cars one of the lads got dropped off one night by his dad, not in his normal BMW but a yellow Dino. Cue lots of petrol heads drooling over it for a while.

There’ll be an awful lot of Ferraris at Knockhill this weekend …

Yeh, they said it was their owners club weekend up there.

TBH the cars are in a diffrent league to what I can afford. The alternator for the 348 cost more than my 944, and they don't come up on fleaBay to often. Nice to have a shot off, but the bills just don't stop.

On another note, a guy who works with me won the lotto on Saturday, and is still working for us @ RBS in Gogarburn. 2 million and he came in for his Sunday shift because no one would cover him. I would have been at Glenvarigill for them opening on Sunday morning, and the job!!!!!

What would you do?.

 Unreal, although TBH I'd probably cover the job until they got a replacement for me as I really enjoy this role (the first time of working in 36 years!) & I don't let people down.

Yup Dancing Donkeys cost mega bucks to keep. Several are 24K or 2 years for cambelts & it is an engine out job to do it. While it is out most do a clutch swap & other work at the same time :o
