Hi Stuart, what model Gaz shocks are these?

Is the ride height set or adjustable?

Hi

They are Gaz Gold. Adjustable ride height at front (re indexed at rear) and fully adjustable damping all round.

Stuart

Would these fit my 1988S? Seems like everyone wants them, maybe we could get a deal on a group buy? Plus we would all get the same, well should do. MIT save a lot of confusion as well.

so the rear shocks are the same as the standard ones and in order to lower the backend I need to adjust the trailing arm or reindex the torsion bars?

I spoke to GAZ yesterday and they recomended the gold series, 65mm coilover on the front & a 2 1/4 coilover on the rear, which they supply to the 944/968 club racing chapionship. The price was £695 +vat and shipping for supply only. That still sound really cheap but I'd agree with T3RRA we should try for deal. I'm in if we can get some numbers I'll talk to GAZ. Either way thing I'm going to buy.
scam75, how do you describe the handling compared to before you fitted the shocks? I have an '87 220hp so should be a similar ride.

Just had a breif conversation with GAZ. They will give a discount of 'about' 20% for TIPEC members so long as we have an initial order of 5 kits. I think this will need to be endorsed or approved by TIPEC but I think the quanitity discount will still apply either way if we have 5 interested parties. Any takers?

Quite happy to back this as TIPEC, we'll let GAZ collect monies from the 5 so no club funds involved.
What spring size are these units for? Assuming they'll fit S2 size springs then I'm in.

Not too sure Jim, I'm new to the 944. If you want to call GAZ I spoke to David on 01268 724585. I'd be happy for you to take over and haggle officially on TIPEC's behalf if you like ?

Night and day, Although I done the castor mounts and had a full geo at the same time, plus one of my old front shocks was bent!

The adjustability is amazing. You can go from pretty soft to rock hard, the ride is assured and the cornering inspires confidence. Handles bumpy terrain fairly well also.

What springs are you running on the back & have you had the torsion bars re-indexed?

Hi Jim

300lb springs at the front. No springs at the rear. Re indexed torsion bar to lower rear.

Stuart
