Probably the PAS cooling coil under the OS wheel arch is corroded … new coils are around 120 quid from memory.

Off-topic slightly, but the cooling coils are completely unnecessary in our climate. My local Porsche specialist’s standard method for dealing with the common leak is to delete the cooling coil and replace with a short straight pipe. Job’s a good ’un and only costs a couple of quid.

That is what someone has done with mine.

FWIW, some of the guys on a US forum have reported boil over in the reservoir while tracking the car, even with the cooling coil. Don't forget that the reservoir sits right next to the exhaust manifold and it gets pretty hot under there and the ATF is just an oil with detergents added...

After a rather large gusher of a leak I've just replaced _all_ of the hoses, banjo bolts and crush rings on mine. I also cracked open the pump and replaced the internal seals with a readily available kit, also bought the rack kit but think I'll leave that job to a pro rebuilder shop. To get some of the hoses off though, I had to pull the rack, which isn't is hard as it looks and all this I did without the aid of a garage or hoist.

So if your not going to fix the hoses now, I'd keep some kind of box cutter or shears in the car to cut the power steering pump drive belt if you spring a leak somewhere as the pump will die quickly otherwise. The car is completely drivable without the P/S, I drove mine for months before fixing it all, just expect to have to use both hands on the wheel most often...
