Im not going to be too sticky on high miles but had set a rough limit of 130k in my head (no particular reason) Sounds like they are getting a few more 944's in soon so will keep my eye open. Would be intersted to hear of any recommendations of similar high quailty establishments a bit further north :-)

Thanks for advice and offer of lift :-) think I will be giving Buchanan motors a miss as well. Phoned jmg today and really impressed with the honest and frank description but even more impressed that all the minor issues would be made good in the price. Unfort the car has done a few more miles than I would want, so passing on this one. Jmg have a few more 944 coming in so will keep eye on the website think it's def worthwhile travelling the distance to get the service

You don't understand 944's! Mileage means nothing. Condition is everything. In fact more miles is better because it means the car has been in regular use. Just look at the mileages on Boxsters & ask yourself if it's reasonable to find a 20+ year old car with 80K miles on it. You will need to travel to find a good one & Jon Mitchel is the best specialist out there. I live in Halifax but get my parts from JMG. If you want to know what a good high mileage '44 can go like you can go out in mine. Seriously I wish I had got mine from these guys. Maybe then I wouldn't have had so much time off the road & spent so much sorting it out. Were only trying to save you money. :)

high miles is never really an issue with a looked after 944, what matters seems to be the looking after.

High mileage may well save you money, as someone else has already replaced everything. But then again they may not. Not sure what the mileage life on most the parts is,but a well card for engine will outsee 250,000 miles. I think what jj is saying is that these cars don't fair well from sitting for long periods, there better from use. But like everything the more use the more change it could of be subject 2 miss use. Small parking dings e.c.t one thing I would sirguesst is check the sills 4 repairs, they may look well from the outside. Inside the door opening is a vent plastic in the body, rubber in the door. Remove the plastic and have a look inside.

Saving money wise, concidered how mint a car you want, there at less 20 years old, regurdless of however well built, you can quite quickly triple the cost by cleaning up both the visaul and mercanhical side.

Good luck with the hunt,

Jon won't let a car go out of his place unless it is running absolutely correctly. Seen this car and the bodywork/interior is spotless and that colour looks even more brilliant when you're standing next it then it does in the pictures. Talk to him nicely and me might even stick some performance bits in it

I've heard a lot of good things about JMG from JJ. No mention of the mileage though. But as already been pointed out, high or low mileage, if it has a fully stamped up service book with a folder full of invoices to back up the work done, that would get my vote everytime.
