Yamaha TY125. if you add bikes. Great fun till I came off at 70 on too soft tyres. Almost lost a leg.........

Mini clubman. Produced just 26hp at the wheels!
Mini Cooper S. Insurance cost more than the car.... Better at 56hp Too good I wrote it off.

Kia Pride 1.1L on carbs. Bloody quick & totally reliable.
Vauxall Nova 1.3SR on Webbers. 100 at wheels.
Peugeot 106 rallye 1.6 Great but a nightmare to insure.
Hyundai Amica failed attempt to be sensible. Horrible & very unreliable.
Suzuki Ignis. Good engine awful suspension.
Porsche 944 lasted the longest. The most fun. Still spending money on it. Daily drive.

What an interesting thread!

In retrospect wish I'd owned more cars, but am very loyal! Probably keep cars for so long because I really care about them so agonise over the choice. Ran this small but select bunch from new:

1984-87 Alfasud 1.3 Ti
1987-96 Toyota MR2
1996-08 BMW 328i

Over the 21 years (count them) I ran the MR2 and Bee-Emm, I don't think I had a moment's trouble from either of them which is another reason I hung on to them for so long but arrival of kids meant MR2 had to go. The Sud was wonderful too and fulfilled a dream of Sud ownership nurtured by reading Car magazine in the 70s at school.

328i was a fantastic car. Diesel-like grunt from a 6 cylinder petrol which was as smooth as pouring cream. 31mpg and awesome performance (I think it had the highest performance of any road car sold in the UK bar more sports-oriented models). 0-60 was 6 point something I think.

And the Porsches?

2006-09 928 S4
2009- 928 S4 (I do like 928s, tbh am not interested in owning any other Porsche but each to his own)

Current daily driver from 2008 is a Saab 9-3 Aero. 210bhp and a great driver's car but woeful interior quality and a stereo from a 1980s Lada. Superb lag-free turbo but of course not the wonderfully linear power delivery of the 328i. Apart from the 928s my first used car buy, but they practically give used Saabs away so couldn't resist.

Mmm, roughly in order, except where more than one of the same make/model, vans/estates usually owned at same time as more 'interesting car! Job to remember them all now :
