Dear All,

I am selling a Porsche 944s (1988 model) which has a failed engine. I had the top end of the engine rebuilt about 500 miles ago and the car was running fine until it let out a lot of oil - inspection sees a big hole in the side of the sump. The car was actually still running and we switched off the engine as soon as oil pressure dropped, however I suspect its a big fault.

The Car has a few rust spots but it is in overall good condition. Welding was done on the car last year underneath, I cannot get decent photo's of that and also the underside is covered in oil now. There are a few rust bubbles on the front left wing and 2 small spots at the top of the Windscreen. The car just completed an MOT and the garage I use generally makes sure I am aware of anything problematic to see if I want it resolved.

The Interior is also in good condition, Burgundy Pinstripe - there are no rips or tears to the Interior, the carpets and boot carpets are all fine as are the seats.

The only other known faults are drivers side Window switch not functioning, steering wheel stitching undone.

The car would be ideal for spares or repair - assuming you aren't after an engine that is!

You will need to collect the car with a trailer, it does not run. The car is located in Hove, Sussex.

The Car has almost 12 months MOT left on it - just completed on 12th May.

£350.00 ono - will consider less for a prompt sale - I have all the log books, service records etc etc which will be supplied with the car, as will some spare parts. I am reluctantly getting rid as I do not have the time / tools to take the engine out and rebuild it.

Inspection Welcome - no timewasters.

I will stick this on Ebay in a few days, however I would prefer the car went to an enthusiast who could make better use of it.

THIS CAR IS NOW SOLD

Thanks

Dylan

update:

The sills may have been replaced at some point and these have then been painted - a few patches I don't have pics of (can be supplied for people interested - ask me what you want a photo of). Added interior pics. As stated, passed MOT recently and nothing flagged for problems at that point. Spare parts include some service items, spare exhaist manifold, spare head.

Need to get it out of my Garage as another car is normally stored there.

Some pics of the rusty bits & underside might help your cause. If it needs a short engine then thats not too bad as Poscheapart willl have a runner in stock for around £600 which you could rob the best bits of yours for. But body condition is critical. If it costs too much to do the body not worth fixing it. Sad to say you will get more if you break it. You should be past £250 just for the wheels. If the heads been done then thats at least another £250. Then you still got the camshafts etc..... Get the picture. Heads/cams for these are in demand.

As JJ said more pics especially the sill area & what the interior is like. Some idea of location would be good as well.

Hi,

I have updated the thread slightly, if people want specific pictures, more than happy to go and get them - car is not garaged at my House. I really don't have time to break it, else I would have time to fix it which I would rather see happen to the car.

Hi Jim,

Added interior pics, will stick some sill ones on when I get a chance. Advert states its in Hove, Sussex, or did you mean location of rust?

Cheers

Dylan

It's times like this I really wish I had a trailer, the engine in mine is spot on, it's just everything else I'm having trouble with.

Shame it's so far away.

Just a quick Google and this was first up http://vehicles.vivastreet.co.uk/rentals+luton-lu1/self-drive-car-transporter-hire/19060565
£130 quid for the day to hire a transporter

Are you nuts? Hes practically giving it away. Well worth getting it delivered. Lots of ads on ebay usually. You just need a guy with a flatbed & some ramps. I had a wreck picked up from Penrith for a little over £100. Ring around theres a credit crunch on! When you've picked the best bits from both cars you can scrap the rest on fleabay & pay for the transport.

I almost picked up a 924 turbo a couple of months back and the cheapest price I got for transportation (it wasn't much further than this car) was £350.

Everywhere seems cheap until North Devon comes into the equation then prices sky rocket! The self drive transporter is a nice option (obviously somewhere a bit more local to avoid having to drive to the other side of the country and back twice).

Just want it to go to a good home really... even if its to be a donor car. Don't make me ebay it... :D its not about the money...although I do need to cover the cost of a recent MOT!

Seriously, its in good condition and I am sure with a bit of tinkering! (erm engine change) someone could get this running and have a nice car for some time to come. I just don't have the time due to starting a new business, and don't have the space as its in the garage where I should be storing another car.

I'd love to take it on, it's just the getting it here is a bit of a headache and then there's having to persuade my Dad as my current one is hiding in the corner of his garage with my brother's car parked next to it lol.

I'll see what I can do though.
