Hi All,

I have a 1988 911, I want to jack the car up using a trolley jack, which is the best way to do this, there is lots of conflicting comments around. any ides??? I do have two axle stands as well.
I am painting the calipers (insitu), so two wheels at a time would be good enough.

thanks

Personally I never use jacking points on older cars. I'd use a suspension mounting point, wishbone mount or similar. With both jack & axle stand use some wood if possible to spread the load.

+1 one. Suspension mounts with a piece of rubber or old carpet. You can also jack on the engine on the seam nearest the gearbox and lift the entire rear of the car at once then drop onto axle stands.

you can also jack on the torsion bar covers but these are a good place to put the axle stands,
